{"id":113777,"date":"2014-11-07T09:27:24","date_gmt":"2014-11-07T16:27:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/?p=113777"},"modified":"2014-11-07T09:27:24","modified_gmt":"2014-11-07T16:27:24","slug":"ipc-swimming-world-championships-looking-volunteers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ipc-swimming-world-championships-looking-volunteers\/","title":{"rendered":"IPC Swimming World Championships Looking For Volunteers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>GLASGOW &#8211; The volunteer application process for the 2015 IPC Swimming World Championships, taking place between 13-19 July at the Tollcross International Swimming Centre in Glasgow, Great Britain, is now open.<\/p>\n<p>Recruitment is through an online application process at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.paralympic.org\/glasgow-2015\/volunteer\" target=\"_blank\">www.paralympic.org\/glasgow-2015\/volunteer<\/a>. The final deadline for applications is 30 January 2015.<\/p>\n<p>A range of roles are available, including transport, meet and greet, media operations and accreditation, as well as some more sport-specific roles.<\/p>\n<p>Natasha Cuthbert, Glasgow 2015 Project Manager, said: &#8220;Volunteers will play a central role in the delivery of the Championships, welcoming the world to Glasgow. The Games Makers at London 2012, and more recently the Clyde-Siders at the Commonwealth Games, have really changed the face of sports volunteering in the UK. This is another great opportunity to be involved in a major global Championships event, helping us to provide the athletes and fans with a fantastic experience in 2015.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The World Championships are expected to see more than 650 athletes from more than 60 countries compete for medals and coveted qualification sports for Rio 2016.<\/p>\n<p>The competition forms part of UK Sport&#8217;s Gold Event Series, a EUR 34 million (GBP \u00a327 million) National Lottery funded initiative which aims to bring up to 70 world class sporting events to the UK by 2019. The event is also supported by EventScotland, the events directorate of national tourism organisation VisitScotland.<\/p>\n<p>The venue will be the Tollcross International Swimming Centre, the same pool that hosted the hugely successful and popular swimming competitions at the Glasgow 2014 Commonwealth Games in July and the 2013 Duel in the Pool between the USA and the European Allstars.<\/p>\n<p><em>The above article is a press release submitted to Swimming World.
