OSTROWIEC, Poland, May 23. SEVEN months after being involved in a car accident that claimed the life of her brother, Otylia Jedrzejczak had a stellar showing over the weekend at the Polish Championships. Jedrzejczak, who was severely injured in the October accident, claimed three victories, proving herself in fine form with the European Championships slated for this summer in Budapest, Hungary.<\/p>\n
Jedrzejczak prevailed in the 200 freestyle with a strong performance of 1:57.91. She also took top honors in the 100 and 200 butterfly events, thanks to times of 1:00.64 and 2:08.63. Jedrzejczak is the reigning world champion and world-record holder in the 200 fly. In other female action, Beata Kaminska won the 50 breast (32.01) and 100 breast (1:09.49) and Katarzyna Baranowska was the winner of the 200 individual medley (2:15.18) and 400 I.M. (4:48.19).<\/p>\n
On the men's side, Pawel Korzeniowski was sensational, as he corralled a quartet of titles. The world champ in the 200 fly, Korzeniowski won his prime event with a high-quality swim of 1:55.78. He also took first in the 50 fly (24.62) and 100 fly (53.34) and bested the competition in the 200 freestyle (1:49.09).
