By Abby Boone, Swimming World College Intern<\/em><\/p>\nLAKELAND – The next week is pretty busy for the Sunshine State Conference with many upcoming meets for its conference members: Florida Southern, Florida Institute of Technology, Rollins, Nova Southeastern, and Lynn.<\/p>\n
Looking Back<\/h2>\n
Last week found Rollins swimming at Nova Southeastern, where Nova swept all 28 events for a win, and posted\u00a0eight NCAA Division II B cuts. Emma Wahlstrom, Malin Westman, Bryndis Hansen, and Emma Lawrenz started the meet with a B cut in the 200 medley relay (1:46.68). Thiago Sickert swam a 1:39.50 in the 200 free, dropped his 100 butterfly to a 48.12, and swam in the 400 free relay (3:05.13) with Magnus Lundgren, Shane Kelinbeck, and Michael Ragan. Ragan also swam the 100 free in 46.48. Wahlstrom finished 57.81 in the 100 back, Courtney DeVeny posted 5:04.97 in the 500 free, and Malin Westman finished the 200 breast in 2:21.72.<\/p>\n
Florida Institute of Technology (FIT)<\/h2>\n
Dar Raz is a definite asset to FIT, beginning the season with a 56.60 in the 100 butterfly and 59.35 in the 100 back. Matheus Assis started the season with a 21.1 50 free and a 51.39 100 fly. Brian Dumont\u00a0and Camden Johnston should continue to lead the team in the breaststroke, and Julie Cohn will remain a threat in the backstroke.<\/p>\n
Rollins<\/h2>\n
Rachel Acers is going to be a team leader in the backstroke, with a 200 time of 2:18.3. David Emson will be a leader in freestyle events, starting the season with a 100 free time of 50.54 and 200 time of 1:54.86. Arron Nestor offers promise for the distance events, and Amy Hockman will be a key player in the breaststroke and IM.<\/p>\n
Florida Southern College (FSC)<\/h2>\n
Alli Crenshaw (season best 10:27.31) and Juan Tolosa (season best 9:53.92) should continue to remain threats in the 1000 free throughout the season. Crenshaw also in the 200 free, and Kelsey Gouge in the 50 and 100 free and 100 breast. Dylan Lake has serious potential after a 1:00.41 100 breast and 2:11.84 200 breast, and Marco Palacios leads the team in the backstroke.<\/p>\n
Nova Southeastern<\/h2>\n
Thiago Sickert is set to continue leading Nova, as his time in the 100 fly (48.12) is the second fastest in the nation.\u00a0He also has high marks in the 200 free (1:39.5). Bryndis Hansen\u2019s 100 free (51.98) and 24.19 50 free mark her as a serious threat. Michael Ragan should be watched in the 100 free (46.48), and Courtney DeVeny\u00a0is going to be a leader in the 500 free with her time of 5:04.97.<\/p>\n
Lynn<\/h2>\n
Rebecca Matthews is leading Lynn, already having three NCAA B cuts, in the 400 IM (4:25.98), 200 free (1:53.70), and 100 free (53.19). Tieri Erasito is a key swimmer in the 200 fly (2:13.38),\u00a0500 free (5:43.40), and 100 fly (1:01.79).\u00a0Tyne Potgieter, an All-American Honorable Mention, continues to thrive in the 100 (1:06.22) and 200 (2:25.65) breaststroke.<\/p>\n

The SSC named Nova\u2019s Thiago Sickert and Bryndis Hansen as this week\u2019s swimmers of the week based off of their performances during the week of October 27 \u2013 November 2. This included their NCAA B cut times (Sickert in the 100 fly and 200 free, Hansen in the 100 free and 200 medley relay), and close to NCAA B times (Sickert in the 400 free relay, Hansen in the 50 free).<\/p>\n
Past swimmer of the week awards for the season went to St. Leo\u2019s Hunter Bains for his NCAA B times in the 200 free as well as performance in the 400 medley and 200 free relays, and St. Leo\u2019s Nicole Weber for her NCAA B times in the 400 IM, 100 breast, and 200 breast.<\/p>\n
