GENOA – The stars came out at night at the Nico Sapio Trophy Meet, but none shined brighter than Olympic superstar Natalie Coughlin as she doubled up during the one-day short course meter event.<\/p>\n

Coughlin turned in the top performance of the meet with a 56.98 in the women’s 100-meter back. \u00a0That swim jumped her to seventh in the world rankings so far this year. \u00a0Germany’s Jenny Mensing took second in 59.59 with Arianna Barbieri placing third in 1:00.33.<\/p>\n

Coughlin doubled up with a 52.91 to win the women’s 100-meter free, while Alice Mizzau snared second in 54.58. \u00a0USA’s Madison Kennedy took third in 54.75. \u00a0Notably, Austria’s Birgit Koschischek (54.80) and USA’s Amanda Weir (55.37) made up the rest of the top five.<\/p>\n

France’s Mehdy Metella hit the wall in 50.35 to win the men’s 100-meter fly. That put him 11th in the world rankings so far this year. Matteo Rivolta finished second in 52.14 with Croatia’s Mario Todorovic placing third in 52.60. Ryan Lochte posted a 10th-place time of 54.59 in prelims, but missed finals.<\/p>\n

Metella then doubled with a 47.96 to win the men’s 100-meter free, while Lochte settled for silver with a 48.50. Clement Mignon wound up third in 48.73. \u00a0Lochte bounced back in the 200-meter IM with a 1:57.24 for the win. \u00a0Federico Turrini (1:58.94) and USA’s Tyler Clary (2:00.36) comprised the rest of the podium.<\/p>\n

Ilaria Bianchi won the women’s 100-meter fly in 57.43, while Claudia Tarzia took second in 59.22. Katarina Listopadova of Slovakia also cleared 1:00 to finish third in 59.52.<\/p>\n

France’s Ben Stasiulis won the men’s 100-meter backstroke in 52.11, while Camille Lacourt clocked a 52.74 in prelims but scratched finals. \u00a0Luca Pancari finished second in 53.79 with USA’s Tyler Clary closing out the top three in 54.05.<\/p>\n

Lisa Fissneider captured the women’s 100-meter breaststroke title in 1:07.65 with Nicol Valentini claiming second in 1:09.01. Francesca Fangio wound up third in 1:09.29.<\/p>\n

Fabio Scozzoli stopped the clock in 58.45 to win the men’s 100-meter breast, while Francesco Di Lecce placed second in 59.27. France’s Giacomo Dortona (59.73) and Florent Manaudou (59.85) also cleared 1:00.<\/p>\n

Alice Nesti won the women’s 200-meter IM in 2:14.26 with Susanna Negri (2:15.14) and Alessia Polieri (2:17.29) earning second and third.<\/p>\n

Diletta Carli snagged the women’s 400-meter free title in 4:05.17 with Chiara Masini Luccetti touching second in 4:07.22. Luisa Trombetti placed third in 4:07.52.<\/p>\n

Gabriele Detti charged to a 3:42.89 to win the men’s 400-meter free. \u00a0Turrini (3:47.54) and Federico Brumana (3:51.99) placed second and third.<\/p>\n
