KNOXVILLE – The Indiana swimming and diving teams came away with four victories over Tennessee and Kentucky in a three-team dual meet at the Allan Jones Intercollegiate Aquatic Center in Knoxville on Friday night.<\/p>\n

On the men’s side, the Hoosiers topped Tennessee, 157-143, and Kentucky, 240-58. Tennessee also beat Kentucky, 234-64. In the women’s meet, Indiana picked up wins over Tennessee (169-129) and Kentucky (176.5-123.5), while Tennessee out-swam Kentucky, 191-109.<\/p>\n

Individually, the Hoosiers were led by Kennedy Goss, Anze Tavcar, Brooklynn Snodgrass and Michael Hixon, who each picked up multiple wins. Kennedy hit the wall first in the women’s 200 free (1:46.45), then out-touched Tennessee’s Faith Johnson to win the 100 free in 49.86. She also scored a two-second victory in the 500 free with a 4:48.83.<\/p>\n

Tavcar outraced teammate Blake Pieroni to win the 200 free in 1:36.08, then cruised to a near half-second win in the 50 free in 20.10. He also won the 100 free in 43.69. Snodgrass continued her winning ways in the backstroke events, sweeping the 100 (53.57) and 200 (1:54.53). Hixon swept the diving events, scoring 417.70 points in the 1-meter and 414.75 points in the 3-meter.<\/p>\n

Stephanie Marchuk (1650 free, 16:37.63), Max Irwin (100 fly, 48.34) and Dorina Szekeres (400 IM, 4:17.93) also won individual events for Indiana.<\/p>\n

Tennessee’s Sam McHugh and Molly Hannis did their part to help the Volunteers by winning two individual events apiece. McHugh pulled a difficult double, taking the 200 fly in 1:46.72 and then topping the 500 free field in 4:27.26. Hannis swept both breaststroke events, winning the 100 in 1:00.57 and the 200 in a very solid mid-season time of 2:09.24.<\/p>\n

David Heron (1650 free, 15:24.13), Jimmy Dagley (100 back, 49.05), Peter Stevens (100 breast, 54.23), Sean Lehane (200 back, 1:44.48), Tristan Slater (200 breast, 2:00.75) and Faith Johnson (50 free, 22.91) picked up Tennessee’s other wins.<\/p>\n

Christina Bechtel and Christa Cabot each won two events for Kentucky, as Bechtel swept the 100 fly (53.72) and 200 fly (1:57.91) and Cabot added wins on the women’s 3-meter (306.40 points) and 1-meter (301.60 points).<\/p>\n

Tennessee won both the women’s and men’s 200 medley relays to start the meet, as Amanda Carner, Molly Hannis, Anna Demonte and Alex Cleveland won the women’s race in 1:40.90 and Sean Lehane, Peter Stevens, Chris Sadsad and Troy Tillman raced to a 1:28.04 in the men’s relay.<\/p>\n

Indiana captured the final two 400 free relays, with Kennedy Goss, Brooklynn Snodgrass, Haley Lips and Grace Vertigans posting a 3:21.21 and Anze Tavcar, Blake Pieroni, Max Irwin and Yianni Thermos stopping the clock at 2:57.20.<\/p>\n
