TOURS, France, May 14. THE Laure Manaudou Show rolled on Saturday, the fourth day of the French Championships. One night after setting a world record in the 400-meter freestyle, Manaudou established a pair of national records, increasing her total in that category for the week to four. After winning the 200 freestyle in a splendid time of 1:57.81, well ahead of the 2:00.02 of Aurore Mongel, Manaudou negotiated the 200 individual medley in 2:12.41. She was followed in that event by Sophie De Ronchi (2:14.84). Manaudou also set a national record in the 400 I.M. earlier in the meet.<\/p>\n
Manaudou, however, wasn't the only record-breaker on Saturday, due to the presence of Fred Bousquet and Amaury Leveaux in the male competition. Bousquet, who enjoyed a sterling collegiate career at Auburn University, clocked 23.83 in the 50 butterfly for his French record. As for Leveaux, he touched the wall in the 200 freestyle in 1:48.10, an effort that handed him a convincing decision over Fabien Gilot, who managed a mark of 1:49.50.<\/p>\n
In the 100 breaststroke events, the women's victory went to Great Britain's Kirsty Balfour in a time of 1:09.11. Anne Sophie Le Paranthoen finished second, but her time of 1:10.09 was good enough for a French record. On the men's side, Hugues Duboscq prevailed over the competition, but his swim of 1:01.92 was far from eye-catching.
