SYDNEY, Australia, May 11. AFTER preliminary hearings, the man who coached Brooke Hanson to an Olympic silver medal in Athens has been charged with 21 counts of sexual abuse of a child. Mark Thompson pleaded not guilty to the charges and will stand trial in July. He allegedly committed sexual assault against one of his swimmers between 1998 and 1999.<\/p>\n
Thompson is on leave from his position as head coach at the Nunawading Swim Club. He has been accused of assaulting a male swimmer under the age of 16. Australian magistrate Felicity Broughton ordered Thompson to face the 21 counts against him.
