BERLIN – Germany has announced that it will bid to host the 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games according to Inside the Games<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Additionally, the German Olympics Sports Confederation (DOSB) has announced that if it is unable to secure the 2024 bid, it will push on through and bid for 2028.<\/p>\n

Germany is currently considering Berlin and Hamburg as the focal point bid cities, even though future bids from the Olympics are going to be more focused on entire countries hosting the event and not just a singular city wherever possible. Both cities have already submitted initial proposals to be chosen as the bid city.<\/p>\n

Berlin’s proposal would require a $3.1 billion investment to create a successful bid. \u00a0$318 million would be required to upgrade 15 sports facilities already in existence, while another $1.3 billion would go towards building temporary facilities according to Inside the Games.<\/p>\n

“The Olympic and Paralympic Games are for the German sports the most important event ever,” DOSB President Alfons H\u00f6rmann told Inside the Games. “The Olympic and Paralympic Games, created sustainably, are a chance for the whole country and especially for the host city and region. From Munich 1972 to London 2012 it becomes clear what they can trigger in the economy and society if well conceived and executed.”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n
