Monica Dornick, Madison White and Noelle Tarazona each recorded two individual wins for the Bruins.<\/p>\n<h2>UCLA Press Release<\/h2>\n<p>The 18th-ranked UCLA swimming team had the best times in all 14 races on Saturday at UCSB Campus Pool to record a tri-meet victory over UC Santa Barbara and BYU. Seniors Monica Dornick and Noelle Tarazona and sophomore Madison White each won two races, as the Bruins beat the Gauchos 162-96 and the Cougars 171-87.<\/p>\n<p>The Bruins claimed the top two times in the 200 Medley Relay. The quartet of sophomore Linnea Mack, juniors Allison Wine and Katie Kinnear and Dornick won the race with a time of 1:42.57, while the group of White, senior Taylor Carlson, Tarazona and freshman Sarah Kaunitz placed second (1:44.77).<\/p>\n<p>The Bruins had another 1-2 finish in the first individual race, the 1000 Freestyle. Senior Katy Campbell had the best time at 9:56.31, with freshman MK Kish placing second (10:21.79). UCLA had the six best swims in the 200 Free, led by Mack, who had a 1:50.50, followed by Campbell\u2019s 1:50.63. Rounding out the Bruin six-pack were freshmen Carly Reid (1:52.06) and Katie Grover (1:52.83), Kaunitz (1:53.63) and Natalie Amberg (1:54.01).<\/p>\n<p>In the 100 Backstroke, White won her first race (55.14), while freshman Marie-Pierre Delisle was fourth (58.01). UCLA made it five in a row to open the meet with a win for Wine in the 100 Breaststroke in a time of 1:04.02. Carlson was third (1:05.26), while sophomore Brigitte Winkler placed fifth (1:06.76).<\/p>\n<p>In the 200 Butterfly, UCLA had the top four times, with Tarazona winning at 2:02.00. Freshman Anna Quinn was second (2:03.08), followed by senior Kacey Milligan (2:04.38) and junior Madison Applegate (2:06.57). UCLA recorded the first, third and fifth-best times in the 50 Free, with Dornick swimming the fastest at 23.67. Kinnear was third (24.13), while senior Jessica Khojasteh placed fifth (24.50).<\/p>\n<p>Dornick made it back-to-back in the sprints, going 51.50 in the 100 Free, followed closely by Grover\u2019s 52.20. The Bruins tallied the top four times in the 200 Back, as White won her second of the meet with a 2:00.43. Kinnear was second (2:03.26), followed by Delisle (2:03.28) and freshman Hannah Grubbs (2:05.99).<\/p>\n<p>In the 200 Breast, Khojasteh recorded the win with a 2:19.49, while Winkler was fifth (2:24.61). Quinn had first-place plaudits in the 500 Free with a time of 5:04.69, while Tarazona followed that with her second Fly win in the 100 (55.80). The Bruins had the second-best time with Applegate (56.05) and the fifth-best mark with Milligan (57.97).<\/p>\n<p>Junior Arlyn Upshaw led the Bruin contingent in the 200 Individual Medley with a time of 2:05.20. UCLA had the four best times in the event, with Mack finishing second (2:08.12), Kish third (2:08.56) and Kinnear fourth (2:09.25). The Bruins closed out the meet with the best time in the 400 Free Relay, as White, Grover, Khojasteh and Mack swam a 3:28.18, while seniors Ally Loper and Courtney Wilde, Carlson and Tarazona were third at 3:32.88.<\/p>\n<p>The UCLA diving team gets their season underway Nov. 7-9 at the Trojan Diving Invitational. The next meet for the swimming team, which will be the first swimming\/diving combined meet of the year, will be Friday, Nov. 14 at Spieker Aquatics Center against #10 Arizona at 1:30 p.m.<\/p>\n<h2>UC Santa Barbara Press Release<\/h2>\n<p>In their 2014-15 season opener, the UCSB women&#8217;s swimming team dueled both UCLA and BYU today at Campus Pool. The winds were strong but our swimmers proved to be stronger as they out-scored BYU 164-98. UCLA, however, took the win over both teams, beating UCSB 162-96. Additionally, ten new swimmers made their Gaucho debuts today.<\/p>\n<p>UCSB&#8217;s 200 Medley &#8220;A&#8221; Relay, consisting of Julia Mikota, Katie Records, Allie Stevens, and Lauren Vosseler, earned third place to begin the meet. Vosseler anchored the relay with a sizzling 23.4 on the 50 free.<\/p>\n<p>Reid Whaley (10:25.19) put up a best time in the 1000 Freestyle in a fourth place finish. Freshman Annie Larsen (10:32.35) followed closely behind to earn fifth in her first race as a Gaucho.<\/p>\n<p>Despite strong UCLA freestylers, Hope Curran came out as the fastest for UCSB with her 1:54.49 200 Free time.<\/p>\n<p>UCLA&#8217;s Allison Wine (1:04.02) and UCSB&#8217;s Katie Records (1:04.29) dueled it out in the 100 Breast, with Wine just barely out-touching Records for the first place finish.<\/p>\n<p>Junior Lauren Vosseler, one of UCSB&#8217;s top recruits as a transfer, came in at 23.94 for a second place finish in her first 50 Free as a Gaucho.<\/p>\n<p>Shortly after, Vosseler (52.28) earned third place in the 100 Free. Hope Curran (53.01) was close behind in her fourth place finish.<\/p>\n<p>Katie Records (2:19.81) took part in yet another tight race in the 200 breaststroke, coming in just .3 seconds after UCLA&#8217;s Jessica Khojasteh (2:19.49). Jiana Vargem (2:21.71) and Alyssa Shew (2:22.33) took third and fourth, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Annie Larsen (5:09.44) put up some more Gaucho points with a third place finish in the 500 Free.<\/p>\n<p>Jaime Dang (57.74) was right on top of her best time with a second place finish in the 100 Fly.<\/p>\n<p>Freshman Alyssa Shew (2:09.79) took second in the 200 IM, with Jiana Vargem (2:11.87) trailing closely behind.<\/p>\n<p>UCSB&#8217;s 400 Free &#8220;A&#8221; Relay team, consisting of Kimmie Kreuzberger, Hollace Barden, Meghan Bicomong, and Lauren Vosseler, swam a tight race against UCLA&#8217;s &#8220;A&#8221; Team, just missing the mark for first place with a 3:29.85 finish.<\/p>\n<p>Catch the UCSB Men&#8217;s and Women&#8217;s Swimming Teams next Saturday, Nov. 1 for the duel meet with Cal Poly SLO.<\/p>\n<h2>BYU Press Release<\/h2>\n<p>The BYU women\u2019s swim team came up short in their first double-dual meet of the season against No. 18 UCLA 171.00-87.00 and UC Santa Barbara 164.00-98.00 in Santa Barbara, California, Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe had some decent swims,\u201d BYU head coach John Brooks said. \u201cWe\u2019re a really young team, and we need to continue to learn how to race at a collegiate level. UCLA swam the best I\u2019ve seen them, and UC Santa Barbara is a really good team.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The 200-yard medley relay team started the meet with a 5th-place finish. The team of Ciera Marsh Keller, Anna Dahl, Haley Bertoldo and Alora Foliaki touched the wall in 1:48.23.<\/p>\n<p>Vanessa Moffatt followed with a 3rd-place finish in the grueling 1,000 freestyle race with a time of 10:22.01. Emily Harris recorded a 7th-place finish in 10:45.22.<\/p>\n<p>Bertoldo finished second in the 100 backstroke, touching the wall in 57.68. Ashlee Spindler came in just behind Bertoldo with a time of 58.79 to finish sixth and Keller just behind her for a 7th-place finish in 59.23.<\/p>\n<p>Moffatt followed up her top-3 1,000 free performance with a 4th-place finish in the 200 butterfly with a time of 2:08.72. Her teammate Lillian Moore came in just behind her finishing fifth, recording a time of 2:10.11.<\/p>\n<p>Foliaki finished the 50 free in 24.56, good enough for a 6th-place finish. Alexandria Sorensen finished 10th with a time of 25.44.<\/p>\n<p>Foliaki turned right around in the next event and finished the 100 free with a time of 53.10 and a finish in fifth place. Alyssa Penney finished behind her, touching the wall in 55.98 and finishing eighth.<\/p>\n<p>The Cougars finished third, fourth and fifth place in the 200 back. Keller touched the wall in 2:06.10, Bertoldo came in just behind her with a time of 2:06.29, and Spindler finished in 2:07.67.<\/p>\n<p>Moffatt continued her strong afternoon with a 2nd-place finish in the 500 free. The true freshman touched the wall with a time of 5:09.08. Harris finished fifth with a time of 5:14.27. Brenna Dickson came in just behind her finishing the event in 5:19.12.<\/p>\n<p>Bertoldo and Moore put in strong showings in the 100 fly for BYU. Bertoldo finished third, touching the wall in 57.87, and Moore earned a 4th-place finish while recording a time of 58.95.<\/p>\n<p>Kerra Bispo finished fourth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:13.55.<\/p>\n<p>BYU\u2019s 400 free relay teams finished third and fourth behind UC Santa Barbara. The team made up of Harris, Spindler, Keller and Moffatt recorded a time of 3:37.14 to finish third. Dickson, Sydney Dahl, Lauren Shaw Taylor and Foliaki finished just behind their teammates in 3:37.36.<\/p>\n<p>Up next for the men and women is UNLV Saturday Nov. 8 at noon in Las Vegas at the
