The women\u2019s team stayed undefeated as UD defeated the Patriots 151-149, while the men\u2019s team fell to George Mason by a 166-129 score at McKay Natatorium.<\/p>\n<p>The UD women (3-0) tallied first place finishes in eight races as Brittany Lazear and Alyssa Sanders had a team-high three wins each. Lazear was victorious in the 1,000 freestyle (10:24.93), 500 freestyle (5:04.58), and was a part of the winning 200 freestyle relay squad (1:35.48). Sanders finished first in the 100 backstroke (57.94), 200 backstroke (2:04.96), and was also part of the winning 200 freestyle relay team.<\/p>\n<p>The women\u2019s team excelled on the diving board as Caitlin Stockwell, Lize Keefer, and Kristina Congdon finished first, second, and third respectively in the three-meter diving competition. The Blue Hens also swept the top three spots in the one-meter diving competition with Congdon taking first place. The Hens also got first place finishes from Madeline Maher in the 200 breaststroke (2:24.54).<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs expected the meet was very close on the women&#8217;s side,&#8221; said Delaware head coach John Hayman. &#8220;It came down to the last event and our women pulled out some fantastic performances for the win. \u201cBrittany Lazear, Haley Farrell, Alyssa Sanders, and all of the divers should be congratulated. The men&#8217;s meet had several close races but in the end we did not prevail. Alex Hillsley and Everett Albert brought home victories for UD with some great swims.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Hillsley led the men\u2019s squad (1-1) with three first place finishes as the sophomore was first to touch in the 100 backstroke (51.95), 200 backstroke (1:53.92), and was a part of the victorious 200 freestyle relay (1:25.14). Albert added a win in the 200 freestyle (1:44.25) and was a member of the winning 200 freestyle relay. Patrick McCann swept both diving competitions as the junior won both the three-meter (291.23 points) and one-meter (253.20) events. Also taking home first place for Delaware was Patrick Savidge in the 400 individual medley (4:08.38).<\/p>\n<p>Both Blue Hen teams will return to action next week at the Colonial Athletic Association Pod Meet at UNCW. In addition to the host Seahawks, the UD men will face William and Mary while the women will take on William &amp; Mary and James Madison.<\/p>\n<h2>George Mason Press Release<\/h2>\n<p>The George Mason men\u2019s swimming &amp; diving team picked up its second dual win of the season over Delaware while the women\u2019s team fell by two points in Saturday\u2019s dual at the Aquatic and Fitness Center.<\/p>\n<p>The men were able to take the meet by the score of 166-129 while the women fell 151-149 in a meet that came down to the final event. The men improve to 2-0 in dual this season while the women dip to 1-2.<\/p>\n<p>The men won nine events in the programs first home meet of the season. They won their first event of the afternoon, the 400-yard medley relay with the team of Jesse Burnley, Johann Shim, Daniel Camozzo and Travis Lauri in a time of 3:26.72. Shim, Camozzo and Lauri were also individual winners on the day.<\/p>\n<p>Shim earned the victory in the 100-yard breaststroke in a time of 59.44 and Camozzo claimed the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 52.19. Lauri again won the 50-yard freestyle, dashing to first with a time of 20.76 along with the 100-yard freestyle (46.58) with Alec Morin right behind (47.23).<\/p>\n<p>The women also started the day with a victory, winning their 400-yard medley relay in a time of 3:53.20 thanks to Melissa Davis, Amy Tansill, Sydney Fisher and Kelsey Sorensen. Tansill also won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:06.28.<\/p>\n<p>Freshman Dorothy Reilly won two events this afternoon, the women\u2019s 100 and 200-yard butterfly with times of 58.93 and 2:06.17, respectively. Fellow freshman Gentry Anderson was right behind her in both events.
