CEDAR FALLS – Northern Iowa swimming took 12 of 15 events against South Dakota to win a dual meet, 196-104.<\/p>\n
Northern Iowa\u2019s women\u2019s swimming and diving team won 12 of 15 events as the Panthers topped South Dakota 196-104 at the Glen F. Henry Pool in Cedar Falls, Iowa, on Saturday afternoon. Sophomores Sam Schutt and Greysen Hertting recorded individual victories for the Coyotes.<\/p>\n
Schutt won 200 and 500 freestyle, and also recorded a runner-up finish in the 100-yard free. Schutt clocked in at one minute, 55.83 seconds to win the 200 free by more than four seconds. She returned to win the 500-yard free, recording a time of 5:06.50. The sophomore also swam a time of 53.39 seconds for second place in the 100 free.<\/p>\n
Hertting recorded two top-three finishes from the boards, as she won the three-meter dive and placed third in the one-meter. The Appleton, Wis., native recorded a mark of 249.15 points to win the three-meter.<\/p>\n
Seven Coyote women recorded 10 more top-three finishes in the dual. Leading the way with two top-three performances each were freshman Katie Svendson (second in 1,000 free, 10:53.46; third in 500 free, 5:22.48), freshman Kassidie Cornell (second in 200 breast, 2:30.41; third in 100 breast, 1:09.17) and sophomore Allie Pfauth (second in 200 IM, 2:15.71; third in 100 butterfly, 1:00.53). Sophomore Tayler Kirtley was the runner-up in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:01.19. To round out the third-place finishes for the Coyotes were senior Paige Stavely (200 back, 2:14.64), junior Rachel Svendson (1,000 free, 10:58.46) and freshman Natalie Buelte (100 back, 1:02.60).<\/p>\n
