The Wolf Pack (4-0) downed the Bulldogs, 172-152, at the Aquatics Center to win its fourth meet in the past two days.<\/p>\n<p>Nevada won 14-of-16 events against Fresno State. Sophomore Teresa Baerens led the Pack with four first-place finishes, earning medalist honors in the 100 free, 200 free, 200 IM and in the 400 medley relay. The day prior, the Wolf Pack won six events and defeated Pacific, Fresno Pacific and Simon Fraser in a quad-meet.<\/p>\n<p>The Wolf Pack opened with a victory in the 400-yard medley relay. Freshman Jaeger Turner, junior Yawen Li, sophomore Sita Kusserow and Baerens posted a time of 3:49.31 to win by over five seconds. Baerens, a native of Ottoburn, Germany, who earned all-conference honors last season, went on to place first in three more events. Baerens won the 100-yard freestyle (51.70), 200-yard freestyle (1:52.23) and the 200-yard IM (2:07.32).<\/p>\n<p>Li, a junior who led Nevada last season and advanced to three events at the NCAA Championships, won two additional events after helping Nevada take first in the 400 medley relay. The Wuhan, China, native won the 200-yard butterfly (2:02.07) and the 200-yard breaststroke (2:17.99).<\/p>\n<p>Junior diver Krysta Palmer made her season debut, winning both diving competitions. The Carson City, Nev., native scored 320.40 points to win the one-meter dive and 322.50 points to win the three-meter dive. Last season, Palmer earned All-Mountain West honors and advanced to the NCAA diving regionals.<\/p>\n<p>Nevada picked up four victories from freshmen on Saturday. Josefin Eriksen, a freshman hailing from Sweden, won the 1,000-yard freestyle nearly 10 seconds ahead of the competition (10:30.35) before winning the 200-yard backstroke 2:04.31 in a tight race. Freshman Kate Hofmeyer also won the 100-yard backstroke in 57.52. Fellow freshman Jaeger Turner also swam the lead leg of Nevada\u2019s winning 400-medley relay.<\/p>\n<p>Sophomore Arantxa Medina-Alegria won the 100-yard breaststroke in 1:05.55. Kusserow, a native of Buehl, Germany, won the 500-yard freestyle (5:04.25) and swam the third leg in the 400-medley relay.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to Nevada\u2019s 14 event wins, the Wolf Pack tallied one-two finishes in four events while sweeping the podium in the 200 fly behind Li, junior Erin Fuss (2:08.35) and senior Kaelie Reviglio (2:09.24).<\/p>\n<h2>Fresno State Press Release<\/h2>\n<p>Fresno State got a first hand look at a Mountain West Conference contender on Saturday, falling 172-125 to Nevada in a dual meet at the Aquatics Center.<\/p>\n<p>The Wolf Pack finished third at the conference championship last season and return plenty of talent this season.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI learned that we need to have a little more confidence in ourselves after today,\u201d Bulldogs head coach Jeanne Fleck said. \u201cWe still had some pretty good sparks, but we just need to get a little tougher as the season goes on.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The \u2018Dogs went 1-2-3 in the 50 Freestyle, with junior Leah Hatayama getting the win with a time of 23.77 seconds. Dana Jones (2nd, 24.37) and Hannah Jarvis (3rd, 24.73) finished behind Hatayama to complete the top three sweep for the \u2018Dogs.<\/p>\n<p>Junior Tarryn Rennie won the 100 Butterfly with a time of 58.40 for her first event win of the season.<\/p>\n<p>Sophomore Esme Gullick was also a part of the second place 400 Medley Relay team. Along with that, she had a second place finish in the 100 Backstroke (57.87) and another second place finish in the 200 Backstroke (2:05.76).<\/p>\n<p>Sophomore diver Shelbie Holden took second on the 3-meter springboard with a score of 249.23. She also took second in the 1-meter with a 237.82.<\/p>\n<p>Fresno State closed the day strong with a win in the 200 Freestyle Relay. Dana Jones closed out the race for the \u2018Dogs as they edged Nevada by .29 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>In the 200 IM, the second-to-last event of the meet, Fresno State swimmers had a 2-3 finish. Sophomore Hailee Baldwin finished second in 2:09.52 and senior Karissa DeRousseau behind her with a time of 2:09.77.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019re starting to get that confidence that we can finish out a meet and that is a really good thing for us,\u201d Fleck said.<\/p>\n<p>The \u2018Dogs are back in action next Sunday, November 2, for another dual meet.
