The Retrievers move to 5-1 and 4-1 on the year.<\/p>\n<p>The men took home both relays on the day, starting off with the 200 medley relay. The team of Lauri Kaei, Leo Endres, Philip Adejumo, and Gregor Sporlein won in a time of 1:34.79. The Retrievers ended the day with a win in the 400 free relay. Kaei and Sporlein teamed up with Jonas Gutzat and Rob Breen to take first in 3:08.06.<\/p>\n<p>Jonas Gutzat, Gregor Spoerlein, and Leo Endres each won two events on the day. Gutzat was a winner in the 200 free (1:42.87) and 500 free (4:40.45), while Spoerlein won the 50 free (21.03) and 100 free (46.40). Endres took home first in the 100 breast (58.44) and 200 breast (2:08.64). Nikola Trajkovic was a winner in the 100 back with a time of 53.07 and the 200 IM in 1:54.23. Freshman Mile Ruttan picked up a win in the 200 back. Ruttan touched the wall in 1:56.19. Adejumo rounded out the individual winners with a win in the 100 fly (51.91).<\/p>\n<p>Ryan Green won the 1 meter dive with a score of 328.20 and the 3 meter with a tally of 352.28.<\/p>\n<p>On the women&#8217;s side, UMBC got a relay win in the final event of the day, the 400 free relay. The quartet of Kristie Langford, Allison Atkinson, Courtney Hadden and Allie Caulfield won with a time of 3:37.19.<\/p>\n<p>Emily Escobedo, Allie Caulfield, and Brenda Rhodes each won two events to pace the Retrievers on the day. Escobedo was a winner in the 100 breast in a time of 1:06.45 and the 200 breast in 2:20.20. Caulfield continued her strong freshman campaign with wins in the 100 and 200 free. Allie touched the wall in 53.94 and 1:55.49 respectively. Rhodes took home first in both distance events, winning the 1000 free in 10:26.19 and the 500 free in 5:08.87.<\/p>\n<p>Coco Darelius had another monster day on the boards. She won the 1 meter dive with a score of 294.98, before shattering her own school record in the 3 meter dive. Coco previously had set the bar 300.60 last weekend, before scoring a 324.00 at George Washington.<\/p>\n<h2>George Washington Press Release<\/h2>\n<p>The George Washington women&#8217;s swimming and diving team fell to UMBC, 160-134 on Saturday afternoon at the Charles E. Smith Center Pool.<\/p>\n<p>The Colonials were paced against the Retrievers by rookie Abigail Fusco with three victories and freshman Hannah Kopydlowski and sophomoreCarly Whitmer with a pair of wins.<\/p>\n<p>The Colonials opened the meet with a first-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay as Fusco, seniors Janica Lee and Morgan Zebley and Kopydlowski clocked in at 1:49.35 for the win.<\/p>\n<p>Fusco won the 100-yard backstroke in 59.69 seconds, then earned top honors in the 200 back in 2:08.14. Kopydlowski recorded a first-place finish in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 24.95 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Whitmer won in the 200-yard butterfly in 2:08.01, followed by senior Bianca Valencia in third in 2:11.24. Whitmer (57.94), Zebley (58.04) and Valencia (59.29) then claimed the top three spots in the 100 fly.<\/p>\n<p>In the 200-yard individual medley, sophomore Lauren Law and Lee finished neck-and-neck for first and second, touching the wall in 2:10.04 and 2:10.92, respectively. Lee also earned third in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:29.03.<\/p>\n<p>Kopydlowski took home second in the 100 free in 54.69 seconds, and Law (1:57.71) and junior Madison Reinker (2:00.55) earned second and fourth in the 200 free. Reinker also finished third in the 1,000 free in 10:44.32, and Fusco and Reinker earned third and fourth in the 500 free with close times of 5:18.24 and 5:18.37, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The 400 free relay of juniors Maggie Hofstadter and Kally Vanderbilt, Zebley and Kopydlowski wrapped the meet with a third-place finish in 3:45.39.<\/p>\n<p>GW returns to the Smith Center Pool on Saturday, Nov. 1, when it welcomes Drexel at 1 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>The George Washington men&#8217;s swimming and diving team dropped a 149-120 decision to UMBC on Saturday afternoon at the Charles E. Smith Center Pool.<\/p>\n<p>Sophomore Liam Huffman and senior Goran Koprivnjak led the Colonials as each tallied a victory against the Retrievers, and Koprivnjak recorded three second-place finishes on the afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>Huffman won the 1,000-yard freestyle in 9:56.13, then earned second in the 500 free in 4:51.79. Freshman Parker Boutwell finished fourth in the 500 free in 4:53.62, followed by classmate Connor Hart fifth in 4:55.05 and sophomore Nick Smagula in sixth in 5:03.23.<\/p>\n<p>Koprivnjak (1:53.86), sophomore Ben Fitch (1:57.01) and junior Oliver Keegan (1:58.44) took home the top three spots in the 200-yard butterfly, and Fitch finished second in the 100 fly in 52.52 seconds. Koprivnjak also earned second in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 1:57.00.<\/p>\n<p>Senior Adam Rabe (59.06) and sophomore Bogdan Balteanu (59.84) finish second and third in the 100-yard breaststroke, and Rabe earned second in the 200 breast with a time of 2:08.76.<\/p>\n<p>The 200-yard medley relay of freshman Gustav Hokfelt, Rabe, Keegan and Fitch finished third in 1:37.12. Hokfelt recorded a second-place finish in the 100-yard backstroke, touching the wall in 53.41 seconds and also finished third in the 200 back in 1:58.78.<\/p>\n<p>The freshman duo of Boutwell (1:44.85) and Adam Drury (1:45.86) finished second and third, respectively, in the 200 free.
