Bick<\/p>\n<p>ANN ARBOR &#8211; The University of Michigan men&#8217;s swimming and diving team leads all three of its dual meets against Texas, Louisville and Indiana following the first day of racing at the Michigan quad meet. Texas leads Louisville and Indiana, while Louisville is ahead of Indiana after day one.\u00a0On the women&#8217;s side, Texas leads all three dual meets over Michigan, Louisville and Indiana. Michigan leads Indiana and Louisville, and Indiana leads Louisville. A number of quick times were posted tonight, including two sub-19.8 50 freestyle times by Michigan freshman Paul Powers.<\/p>\n<p>The Texas men kicked off the night with a win in the 400 medley relay, as Brett Ringgold, Will Licon, Joseph Schooling and John Murray touched first in 3:12.87. Louisville&#8217;s Grigory Tarasevich, Thomas Dahlia, Pedro Coutinho and Caryle Blondell claimed second in 3:14.12. Both times knock off Michigan&#8217;s 3:14.64 as the fastest time in the country this season.<\/p>\n<p>Michigan teammates Justin Glanda and Anders Nielsen gave the Wolverines a 1-2 finish in the 200 free, as Glanda just out-touched Nielsen, 1:36.93 to 1:36.95. With that time, Glanda takes over the top spot this season after dipping below Simonas Bilis of NC State (1:37.02).<\/p>\n<p>Texas&#8217; Kip Darmody got to the wall first in the 100 back with a 48.36, about half a second in front of Louisville&#8217;s Grigory Tarasevich (48.81). In the 100 breast, Michigan&#8217;s Richard Funk prevailed in 53.22, slightly ahead of Indiana&#8217;s Tanner Kurz (53.38). Funk ousted Georgia&#8217;s Nicolas Fink (53.99) from the top spot this season.<\/p>\n<p>Michigan&#8217;s Dylan Bosch dominated the 200 fly, touching in 1:43.93 to beat Indiana&#8217;s Steve Schmuhl (1:47.37) by more than three seconds. Bosch is just outside the top time of the season, held by Georgia&#8217;s Chase Kalisz (1:43.78). Michigan freshman Paul Powers kept the ball rolling for the Wolverines in the 50 free, cracking the 20-second barrier with a 19.79. Louisville&#8217;s Caryle Blondell finished second in 20.18.<\/p>\n<p>In the 1000 free, Texas&#8217; Jonathan Roberts edged Michigan&#8217;s Anders Nielsen, 9:06.52 to 9:07.20. Nielsen&#8217;s teammate, PJ Ransford, was right behind in 9:08.52.<\/p>\n<p>Texas&#8217; Will Licon moved into the top spot in the 200 IM this season with a 1:46.04, comfortably ahead of Georgia&#8217;s Chase Kalisz (1:46.71). Dylan Bosch of Michigan finished second in the event tonight at 1:47.13.<\/p>\n<p>In 1-meter diving action, Indiana&#8217;s Michael Hixon claimed first with 393.30 points, with Texas&#8217; Mark Anderson (367.95) in second. Michigan&#8217;s foursome of Paul Powers, Bruno Ortiz, Vinny Tafuto and Justin Glanda took home the title in the 200 free relay with a 1:18.98, highlighted by Powers&#8217; 19.77 leadoff.<\/p>\n<p>On the women&#8217;s side, Texas&#8217; Tasija Karosas, Gretchen Jaques, Brynne Wong and Sarah Denninghoff combined to post a 3:38.87 in the opening 400 medley relay, the fourth-fastest time in the nation this season. Louisville&#8217;s Erica Belcher, Andee Cottrell, Kelsi Worrell and Andrea Kneppers took second in 3:41.02.<\/p>\n<p>Indiana&#8217;s Haley Lips edged teammate Kennedy Goss for the first individual event title of the night in the 200 free. Lips touched in 1:45.85, while Goss posted a 1:46.01. Lips moves into second overall behind USC&#8217;s Chelsea Chenault (1:45.31) this season. Meanwhile, Hoosier Brooklynn Snodgrass took over the top national ranking in the 100 back with a 52.48, under Katarzyna Wilk&#8217;s 52.77 from the SMU Classic. Michigan freshman Clara Smiddy finished second in 53.89.<\/p>\n<p>Texas went 1-2 in the women&#8217;s 100 breast, with Gretchen Jaques leading the way in 1:01.37. Bethany Leap finished .99 behind in 1:02.36. In the 200 fly, Louisville&#8217;s Tanja Kylliainen got to the wall first in 1:56.78, the second-best time of the season behind Jasmine Tosky&#8217;s 1:55.59. Indiana&#8217;s Gia Dalesandro came in second with a 1:59.59.<\/p>\n<p>Michigan&#8217;s Ali DeLoof proved to be the top sprinter of the night after edging Louisville&#8217;s Kelsi Worrell in the 50 free, 22.80 to 22.82. DeLoof&#8217;s teammate, freshman Hannah Moore, picked up a second consecutive win for Michigan in the 1000 free with a 9:43.98. Texas&#8217; Kaitlin Pawlowicz touched right behind in 9:44.68.<\/p>\n<p>The women&#8217;s 200 IM title went to Texas&#8217; Madisyn Cox, who stopped the clock in 1:58.56, just over a second faster than Indiana&#8217;s Brooklynn Snodgrass (1:59.62). That&#8217;s the fastest time in Division I this season as Cal&#8217;s Celina Li had the previous best at 1:58.81.<\/p>\n<p>Indiana&#8217;s Jessica Parratto topped the diving field in the women&#8217;s 3-meter with 313.40 points. Michigan&#8217;s Carey Chen took second with 288.85 points. Texas&#8217; Gretchen Jaques, Rebecca Millard, Brynne Wong and Sarah Denninghoff wrapped up the night by winning the 200 free relay in 1:32.24.
