AUSTIN, Texas, October 20. The University of Texas swimming and diving teams\u00a0have received verbal commitments from three stellar athletes in the class of 2015: Max Holter, Alyssa Cook and Ryan Harty.<\/p>\n

Harty, the seventh-ranked recruit overall and first out of Massachusetts in Collegeswimming.com<\/a>‘s rankings, hails from Greenwood Memorial Swim Club in Gardner, Mass. He’s an exceptional backstroker and IMer who will contribute big time points right off the bat next season. His personal bests in the 100 back (47.77), 200 back (1:42.04), 200 IM (1:48.33), 400 IM (3:50.13) and 200 breast (2:04.49) all would have made the A final at last season’s Big 12 Championships.<\/p>\n

Harty could also provide additional depth at dual meets in the 50 free (20.94), 100 free (45.17), 200 free (1:39.12) and 100 breast (56.49).<\/p>\n

Cook is ranked fourth in the state of Washington and 183rd overall in the class of 2015 by Collegeswimming.com<\/a>. A native of Olympia, she trains at King Aquatic Club and has put up standout times in the breaststroke and IM events. Her best events include the 100 breast (1:03.25), 200 breast (2:15.60), 200 IM (2:02.25) and 400 IM (4:17.07).<\/p>\n

Her 200 IM, 400 IM and 200 breast times would have made the A final at last season’s Big 12 Championships, while her 100 breast time would have placed in the B final.<\/p>\n

Holter, a senior at Fort Collins High School in Colorado, is ranked third in Colorado and 92nd overall by Collegeswimming.com<\/a>. While training with Fort Collins Area Swim Team, Holter has put up a number of noteworthy times in the butterfly and backstroke events. His 100 fly (48.69), 200 fly (1:50.72), 100 back (50.37) and 200 back (1:48.05) all would have made the A final at the 2014 Big 12 Championships. Holter qualified for the 2016 Olympic Trials at this summer’s Junior National Championships with a 53.98 in the 100 fly.<\/p>\n
