A day after <a title=\"Chase Kalisz, Matias Koski Knock Down Three Wins Each As Georgia Beats North Carolina\" href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/chase-kalisz-matias-koski-win-as-georgia-beats-north-carolina\/\" target=\"_blank\">Georgia smoked North Carolina<\/a>, the N.C. State Wolfpack had an answer for the Bulldogs with a 155-143 win.<\/p>\n<p>The Wolfpack men broke a pool record in the 200-yard medley relay as Andreas Schiellerup, Derek Hren, Soren Dahl and David Williams raced their way to a 1:28.05.<\/p>\n<p>Freshman Anton Ipsen smashed the top time in the nation in the 1000-yard free with a 9:01.83 for the win. That was well ahead of Carlos Omana&#8217;s 9:11.59 for Florida against Kentucky two days ago. UGA&#8217;s Kevin Litherland (9:16.69) and N.C. State&#8217;s Adam Linker (9:17.38) took second and third. Ipsen swept the distance events with another top-ranked time as he clocked a 4:22.03 in the 500-yard free. UGA&#8217;s Kevin Litherland (4:28.85) and Matias Koski (4:31.13) took second and third.<\/p>\n<p>Simonas Bilis started his strong night with a winning 1:37.02 in the 200-yard free. That clipped Pawel Werner&#8217;s 1:37.08 for the top time in the NCAA. UGA&#8217;s Matias Koski (1:37.56) and Alec Cohen (1:38.76) finished second and third, with Koski demonstrating some consistency considering he just went 1:37.44 yesterday against North Carolina.<\/p>\n<p>Bilas doubled up with a 19.96 in the 50-yard free, just the fifth swimmer to break 20 seconds so far this year. Teammate Ryan Held took second in 20.59 with UGA&#8217;s Michael Trice placing third in 20.66. Bilis closed out a three-win meet with a 43.74 in the 100-yard free. That put him second in the country, behind only Utah&#8217;s Nick Soedel. Held (44.86) and Trice (44.87) replicated the 50 free podium.<\/p>\n<p>NC State&#8217;s Andreas Schiellerup took home the 100-yard back title in 48.60 with UGA&#8217;s Ty Stewart placing second in 48.98. NC State&#8217;s Hennesseey Stuart earned third-place honors in 49.19. Stuart bounced back in the 200 back with a 1:46.26 for the win, while Stewart placed second in 1:46.55. NC State&#8217;s Stephen Coetzer placed third in 1:47.80.<\/p>\n<p>UGA&#8217;s Nic Fink countered the NC State onslaught with the first sub-54 second 100-yard breast of the season as he won in 53.99 to take the top of the rankings. NC State&#8217;s Derek Hren placed second in 54.50 with UGA&#8217;s Gunnar Bentz earning third in 56.03. Fink swept the breaststrokes with a 1:59.12 in the 200-yard breast. Chase Kalisz took second in 2:00.29 with Bentz earning third in 2:00.66.<\/p>\n<p>NC State&#8217;s Christian McCurdy responded with a 1:44.77 to win the men&#8217;s 200-yard fly, taking down a big name as Chase Kalisz placed second in 1:44.83. UGA&#8217;s Pace Clark wound up third in 1:47.06. Clark returned in the 100-yard fly with a 48.00 for the win. McCurdy took second in 48.39 with NC State&#8217;s Soeren Dahl earning third in 48.49.<\/p>\n<p>Kalisz shrugged off a pair of second-place finishes to post the top-ranked time in the country in the 200-yard IM with a 1:46.71. Bentz took second in 1:47.35 for second in the nation, while McCurdy wound up third in 1:47.79 for fourth in the NCAA.<\/p>\n<p>NC State&#8217;s Held, Williams, Schiellerup and Bilis ended the meet with a 2:56.12 to win the 400-yard free relay, the fastest time in the country right now.<\/p>\n<p>Ian Forlini swept the men&#8217;s diving events with 346.73 points in the one-meter and 367.95 points in the three-meter.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/grfx.cstv.com\/photos\/schools\/ncst\/sports\/c-swim\/auto_pdf\/2014-15\/box_score\/stats_20141018aab.pdf\" target=\"_blank\"><strong>Results: NC State men vs. Georgia<\/strong><\/a><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>RALEIGH, North Carolina, October 18.
