KNOXVILLE, Tennessee, October 15. \u00a0Hayden Burns certainly isn’t traveling far for college as the Tennessee Aquatics swimmer will be training in his home pool as he’s just committed to the Tennessee Volunteers.<\/p>\n

Burns, the fourth-ranked swimmer in the State of Tennessee<\/a>, already has Big Orange in his blood and has some major upside in the distance and open water events.<\/p>\n

Burns, who preps at Bearden High in Knoxville, is ready to have a breakout season in his senior year under the tutelage of Marshall Goldman and Larry Hough at Tennessee Aquatics (show in the picture above).<\/p>\n

His top yard times are a 1:39.17 in the 200-yard free, a 4:27.76 in the 500-yard free, a 9:26.96 in the 1000-yard free and a 16:02.01 in the 1650-yard free.<\/p>\n

In terms of long course competition, he has a 1:54.16 in the 200-meter free, a 3:58.45 in the 400-meter free, an 8:23.33 in the 800-meter free and a 16:36.79 in the 1500-meter free.<\/p>\n

With a distance swimming and open water focus, Burns is definitely landing in a quality spot. \u00a0With open water world champion Alex Meyer about to move to Knoxville as his training base, and David Heron as well as Evan Pinion in the distance group, the Volunteers are going to be a popular distance destination.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
