Caroline McTaggart, a strong sprint freestyler who trains at All Star Aquatics in Maryland, is headed to UCLA in the second public commitment for the Bruins today. \u00a0The Bruins also earned the pledge of <a title=\"UCLA Legacy Elena Escalas Will Swim for the Bruins\" href=\"http:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/ucla-legacy-elena-escalas-will-swim-bruins\/\" target=\"_blank\">legacy Elena Escalas<\/a>.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;I am thrilled to announce my commitment to UCLA!&#8221; McTaggart wrote on CollegeSwimming.com. &#8220;I love the academics, the swim team, and the coaches. Go Bruins!&#8221;<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>McTaggart is the 23rd-ranked swimmer in the Class of 2015 as well as the third-ranked swimmer in the State of Maryland <a href=\"http:\/\/www.collegeswimming.com\/swimmer\/221485\/\" target=\"_blank\">according to CollegeSwimming.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>McTaggart will provide the Bruins one of the most valued commodities in all of NCAA swimming, a swift sprint freestyler. \u00a0McTaggart brings a 22.73 in the 50-yard free and a 48.99 in the 100-yard free to the table, both at NCSA Junior National Championships live on SwimmingWorld.TV the past two years. \u00a0She clocked her 50 in 2013, while clearing 49 seconds in the 100 this past March.<\/p>\n<p>McTaggart also has a bit of versatility with a 54.06 in the 100-yard fly, while also ranging up to the 200-yard free with a 1:48.82.<\/p>\n<p>McTaggart, who also preps at Holton-Arms High School in Bethesda, Md., also has some long course ability. \u00a0She owns a 26.27 in the 50-meter free and a 56.44 in the 100-meter free. \u00a0Additionally, she put up a 1:02.51 in the 100-meter fly, all in the past year.<\/p>\n<p>Mike Stott, the head coach of The Collegiate School in Richmond, Va., and frequent contributor to <em>Swimming World Magazine<\/em> had high praise for McTaggart.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>&#8220;She has put a hurt on us in dual meets the last two years,&#8221; Stott said.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Agon is the proud sponsor of all high school coverage (recruiting, results, state championships, etc.) on SwimmingWorld.com.
