CHAPEL HILL, North Carolina, October 10. The North Carolina Tar Heels protected their home pool with a pair of huge wins against the Tennessee Volunteers. The UNC men won 170-130, while the women picked up a big 204-96 triumph.<\/p>\n

UNC’s swimmers put up 13 NCAA B cuts by the end of the meet. Hellen Moffitt topped the 100-yard back in 53.49, the 200-yard back in 1:57.79 and the 100-yard fly in 53.73, all beating the B cuts. She also helped UNC’s 200-yard medley relay to victory in 1:40.30.<\/p>\n

Danielle Siverling had an effective day as well with wins in the 200-yard free (1:47.70) and 500-yard free (4:52.50). She also helped the 400-yard free relay win in 3:21.92.<\/p>\n

For the men, Logan Heck and Ben Colley each scored a pair of victories. Colley topped the 100-yard fly in a B cut 47.54 and the 200-yard fly in a B cut 1:45.67. Heck claimed the 50-yard free in 20.39 and the 100-yard free in 44.78.<\/p>\n

UT was led by Sean Lehane, who won a trio of events. He took home the 100-yard back in 48.23 as well as the 200-yard back in 1:44.37. He also ledoff UT’s victorious 200-yard medley relay as Lehane, Peter John Stevens, Tyler Mills and Troy Tillman posted a 1:28.50 to win. He also helped Tennessee to second in the 400-yard free as Tillman, Lehane, Jimmy Dagley and Joshua Romany wound up with a 3:01.15 behind UNC’s Logan Heck, Sam Lewis, Nic Graesser and Ben Colley’s 2:57.85.<\/p>\n

Sam McHugh also had a big night for the Vols. He won the 200-yard free in 1:39.32 as well as the 200-yard IM in 1:50.05. He picked up a second-place finish in the 200-yard fly with a 1:47.37 behind Colley’s winning 1:45.67.<\/p>\n

The Lady Vols had a tougher time shining as the Tar Heels put together a tremendous meet. Senior Molly Hannis swept the breaststroke events with a 1:00.84 in the 100-yard breast and a 2:12.92 in the 200-yard breast as she dominated both fields.<\/p>\n

Faith Johnson, a High Point, N.C., native, had a good night in front of friends and family with a 22.78 in the 50-yard free as well as a 50.16 in the 100-yard free<\/p>\n

The Tar Heels had a strong diving effort. Elissa Dawson won the women’s one-meter with 320.40 points, while John Nyquist took home the one-meter title with 371.63 points. Michole Timm snared the women’s three-meter crown with 352.35 points, while Tennessee’s Mauricio Robles edged Nyquist, 412.65 to 412.43, for the men’s three-meter title.<\/p>\n
