However, other injuries occur, like acromioclavicular (AC) injuries. During AC injuries, the subclavius muscle is overused, trying to limit motion at the AC joint. The subclavius simply means under (sub) the clavicle (collar bone). <\/p>\n
<img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-attachment-id=\"111867\" data-permalink=\"https:\/\/www.swimmingworldmagazine.com\/news\/relieving-stress-in-the-subclavicus-to-help-reduce-risk-of-swimmers-shoulder\/shoulder-anatomy-with-acromioclavicular-joint-eps10\/\" data-orig-file=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/acromioclavicular-joint.jpg\" data-orig-size=\"447,310\" data-comments-opened=\"1\" data-image-meta=\"{"aperture":"0","credit":"Alila Medical Media - Fotolia","camera":"","caption":"","created_timestamp":"1355353170","copyright":"Alila Medical Media - Fotolia","focal_length":"0","iso":"0","shutter_speed":"0","title":"Shoulder anatomy with acromioclavicular joint, eps10"}\" data-image-title=\"acromioclavicular-joint\" data-image-description=\"\" data-image-caption=\"\" data-medium-file=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/acromioclavicular-joint.jpg\" data-large-file=\"https:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/acromioclavicular-joint.jpg\" src=\"http:\/\/vmrw8k5h.tinifycdn.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/10\/acromioclavicular-joint.jpg\" alt=\"acromioclavicular-joint\" width=\"447\" height=\"310\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-111867\" \/><\/a>
\nLuckily, simple self manual techniques can alleviate an overactive subclavius muscle, improving its strength and helping protect the shoulder from excessive stress.
