THE World Cup series is a great opportunity for the best swimmers in the world to not only earn a lot of cash but swim fast in the otherwise quiet fall season. That\u2019s what we\u2019ve been seeing so far at the four World Cup meets since August, and it was very evident last week in Hong Kong.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"560\" height=\"315\" src=\"\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/MevIbKeOk7I?rel=0&#038;autoplay=1\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><br \/>\n<b>YouTube Measures Views Only For Episodes Watched On YouTube<br \/>\nSubscribe to our YouTube channel, SwimmingWorldSPI<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Chad Le Clos has been chasing Evgeny Korotyshkin\u2019s 100 fly short course world record of 48.48 for a long time, and he got just a bit closer last Tuesday with a 48.56. Yep, he was just eight hundredths of a second off the time. Le Clos has continued to make his presence known as a sprint butterflyer after breaking through in 2010 in the 200 fly, winning the world championship title last year and Olympic silver in 2012. This swim last week makes him a hot, hot favorite for the short course world championships in December, if Le Clos elects to compete there.<\/p>\n<p>Le Clos took another shot at the world record last weekend in Moscow, but could only post a 48.99. Still, he\u2019s the only person in the world under 49 seconds this year, though he\u2019s bound to be joined under that barrier once the short course world championships is over in two months.<\/p>\n<p>For now, Chad, we would like to bestow on you the Speedo Performance of the Week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Photo by Maria Dobysheva PHOENIX, Arizona, October 7.
