MICHAEL Phelps Blog entry No 1:<\/p>\n<p><i>Being a World Champion is rivaled only by Olympic Gold and breaking the world record. The next five days in Shanghai will see a strong mix of established short course superstars and talented young swimmers battling for spots on the podium. For the stars of Shanghai, this event will be one of the highlights of their lives and provide inspiration for them in the future. As I continue to focus my training on being ready for Beijing, winning 6 golds and 2 bronzes in Athens is a driving force in reminding me what it is all about! <\/p>\n<p>Having the 8th FINA World Swimming Championships in Shanghai means people can see how China is getting ready for hosting the most important sporting event in the world.  For a lot of the guys it will be their first time in China, a real experience, and there will be serious competition from the Chinese swimmers for sure.
