FORT LAUDERDALE, Florida, April 3. IN one of the final championship meets of the short course year, the YMCA Short Course Nationals begin Tuesday in Fort Lauderdale. The meet has over 1,300 swimmers entered and annually produces some great times. This year\u2019s meet features a few swimmers that have USA National Junior Team experience including West Shore YMCA\u2019s Leah Gingrich, and Tricia Weaner, as well as Sarasota YMCA\u2019s Corinne Showalter on the women\u2019s side. <\/p>\n
On the men\u2019s side, YMCA of the Triangle member as well as a Michigan recruit, Charlie Houchin has Junior Team experience. All four of these swimmers will be leading their respective teams in what looks to be a very tight race in the team competition. The meet also features several up-and-comers who are looking to make their way onto the national scene. <\/p>\n
Look for Triangle\u2019s Teresa Long to make some waves in the sprint events, as well as teammate Matt Donch, who recently broke Olympian David Fox\u2019s 100 free state record at the North Carolina High School state meet. YMCA of the Triangle\u2019s Eric McGinnis could make for a 1-2 finish for the team from Raleigh.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
