COLLEGE STATION, Texas. March,31. TEXAS A&M freshman Codie Hansen and Texas senior Liz Wycliff were named Big 12 Co-Swimmers of theYear after their performances at NCAA's.<\/p>\n
Hansen earned anfifth-place finish at the NCAA Championships in the 200-yard freestyle and was a crucial leg on the Aggies\u00b9 All-American 400 and 800 freestyle relay teams that finished amongst the top six in the country. She finished among the top 20 in the nation in all three of her events at the NCAA Championships as well.<\/p>\n
Hansen's honor adds to her previous award for being named Big 12 Swimmer of the Meet at the conference championships. The A&M star set the Texas A&M school records in both the 200 and 500-yard freestyles at the Big 12 meet while winning both events. She also swam on the all-freshman Big 12 champion 400-yard freestyle relay team and led off the all-freshman Big 12
\nrecord-holding 800 freestyle relay.<\/p>\n
Triin Aljand made it a clean sweep of the Big 12 Newcomer awards this
\nseason. Aljand was named Newcomer of the Year for the conference after
\nearning an eighth place finish in the 50-yard freestyle at the NCAA
\nChampionships. Aljand set the A&M school record in the 50-yard freestyle for the third time this the season with a clocking of 22.40 during the national championship preliminaries. She also swam on the Aggies\u00b9 All-American 200 and 400 freestyle relay teams as well as A&M\u00b9s honorable mention All-American 200 and 400 medley relays at nationals.<\/p>\n
Aljand was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Meet in February after winning
\nthe Big 12 titles in both the 50 freestyle and the 100 butterfly. Aljand
\nowns the school record in both events after her freshman campaign. She swam legs on the Aggies' Big 12 champion 200 and 400-yard freestyle relays as well.<\/p>\n
Both Hansen and Aljand helped lead the Aggies to an 11th-place finish at the NCAA Championships, equaling the highest in school history. A&M also set a school record for points at the NCAA meet with 118, breaking the old record of 100.5 set in 2004.<\/p>\n
