The Florida State swimming and diving teams will compete in the first invitational of the 2014-15 season this weekend in Gainesville, Fla. in the Pinch-A-Penny All-Florida Invite. The meet runs Friday through Sunday and will be held at the Stephen C. O\u2019Connell Center on the campus of the University of Florida.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis meet is always a great benchmark for the season,\u201d FSU head coach Frank Bradley said. \u201cEven though it\u2019s early, it gets our kids into that racing mindset. We\u2019ve stacked the invites for the first semester and I\u2019m really anxious to see our kids perform.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Florida State is one of seven teams competing. Along with the host Florida, Miami, Florida Gulf Coast, North Florida, Nova and California will be racing.<\/p>\n<p>Prelims will begin on Friday at 10 a.m. with finals to follow at 7 p.m. Prelims on Saturday and Sunday will start at 9 a.m. with finals following at 4 p.m.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve hit the training hard from the start,\u201d Bradley said. \u201cI\u2019m very anxious to see how our kids respond. We\u2019re a pretty young team and we have a lot to learn about ourselves this year and that all starts on Friday.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For more information on FSU swimming and diving check Facebook and Twitter.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Rittenhouse Wins Bronze<\/strong><br \/>\nFormer FSU diver Ariel Rittenhouse (Santa Cruz, Calif.) partnered with Amanda Burke (Southampton, Pa.\/State College, Pa.) to win the bronze medal in synchronized 3-meter Tuesday (Sept. 30) at the Pan American Sports Festival, which was held September 27-30 in Mexico City.<\/p>\n<p>Rittenhouse and Burke scored 282.90 points for the 3-meter synchro bronze while competing in their first international meet together as a synchro team. Canada\u2019s Jennifer Abel and Pamela Ware finished with 312.60 points for gold, and Mexico\u2019s Arantxa Chavez and Dolores Hernandez were second with 289.80 points. Burke and Rittenhouse came through with more than 60 points on all three of their optional dives, highlighted by a best of 68.40 points on their front 2 \u00bd with one twist in the final round. The bronze medal was Burke\u2019s first career international medal.<\/p>\n<p>Rittenhouse, a 2008 Olympian competing in her first international meet since 2010, also scored 308.20 points to finish fifth in the women\u2019s individual 3-meter springboard final held Sunday.
