ATLANTA, Georgia, March 25. WHILE the sellout crowd watched the dual duel between Arizona and Auburn in the middle of the pool, Texas junior Garrett Weber-Gale stole the 100 free from lane 8.<\/p>\n
Weber-Gale was ahead all the way, splitting 19.98 at the 50 before touching home in 42.11. Stanford\u2019s Benjamin Wildman-Tobriner was second in 42.17. <\/p>\n
Arizona got the better of Auburn in the final as Simon Burnett was third and Lyndon Ferns fifth; the Tigers\u2019 Cesar Cielo and Matt Targett were fourth and sixth. But Auburn extended its lead by placing ninth, thirteenth and fourteenth in the B final, while Arizona picked up six points for eleventh.<\/p>\n
At the end of the 100 free, Auburn had extended its lead to nine points: 397.5 to 388.5.<\/p>\n
