SARASOTA, Florida, September 24. THE Louisville Cardinals women’s team got a versatile star on their roster for next fall, with a verbal commitment from YMCA national medalist Sophie Cattermole.<\/p>\n

While representing the Sarasota YMCA Sharks, Cattermole earned two silver medals at the spring YMCA nationals. She was second in the 200 IM with a 2:01.06 and runner-up in the 500 free with a 4:47.16. She was also third in the 400 IM with a 4:17.57.<\/p>\n

Cattermole’s best time in the 200 IM came at the Florida Division 2 high school championships last November, where she won the event with a 2:00.39. A swim under 2:00 would be a big boost for the Lemon Bay High School senor going into college.<\/p>\n

“On my recruiting trip I felt like I was part of the team already,” Cattermole wrote in her profile on CollegeSwimming.com. “Coach Arthur (Albiero) and the rest of the Coaching staff understood where I want my swimming career to go, and I feel like I will reach my next level of potential while swimming for them! I couldn\u2019t be anymore pleased with my decision. Go Cards!”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Cattermole also earned All-American status at high school states last year, and holds every swimming record at her high school. She is also a USA Swimming Scholastic All-American two years running with a 4.00+ GPA, and is ranked seventh in the State of Florida and 54th in the class by CollegeSwimming.com<\/a>.<\/p>\n
