MELBOURNE, Australia, March 8. CAN Libby Lenton make history at the Commonwealth Games? Well, that\u2019s what coach Stephan Widmer suggested with the competition just a week away. Widmer indicated that he believes Lenton is capable of winning seven gold medals, which would surpass the six gold medals won by Susie O\u2019Neill in 1998 and Ian Thorpe in 2002.<\/p>\n
Lenton is scheduled to contest the 50, 100 and 200 freestyles, the 100 butterfly and three relays during the Commonwealth Games in Melbourne. Obviously, Lenton will find considerable opposition in that pursuit. While she\u2019ll battle Alice Mills and Jodie Henry in the freestyle sprints, Lenton must clash with Jessicah Schipper in the 100 fly, an event Schipper won at last summer\u2019s World Championships in Montreal.<\/p>\n
