LAFAYETTE, Colorado, September 12. DENVER Hilltopper Haley Rowley made her college commitment last night to Purdue University with an announcement on CollegeSwimming.com. \u00a0Rowley, the 83rd ranked swimmer in the Class of 2015 by CollegeSwimming.com<\/a>, trains with the University of Denver Hilltopper team as well as preps at Centaurus High in Colorado.<\/p>\n

“The vast amount of opportunities Purdue offers will make it possible to thrive in and out of the classroom and in and out of the pool,” Rowley wrote of her commitment. “Purdue has an abundance of exceptional departments of learning that I am interested in and is a top notch college of research. Not only this, but the atmosphere and interaction among both students and athletes is nothing but positive and uplifting. Being apart of Purdue’s swimming and diving team will challenge me to be the best athlete and leader I can be atop it all. It is truly an amazing team, or family rather, with outstanding coaches. Boiler up!”<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Rowley, listed as the fifth-ranked swimmer in the State of Colorado in this class, provides the Boilermakers with a versatile athlete who will make an immediate impact in the backstroke and distance events for Purdue.<\/p>\n

Rowley’s top-ranked swims all come by way of long course meters with a 2:14.99 in the 200-meter back, a 16:47.96 in the 1500-meter free and a 4:48.87 in the 400-meter IM. She also has a 900-point ranked swim in the 200-yard backstroke to her credit of a 1:58.08 from this year’s sectionals. \u00a0 Rowley competed at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 200-meter back and 400-meter IM, as well as finished 19th in the 1650-yard freestyle at nationals this summer.<\/p>\n

Notably, Rowley had a chance to swim against the best in the world this year as she swam against Katie Ledecky at The Woodlands Senior Invitational back in June when Ledecky first set the 1500-meter freestyle world record<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Rowley previously trained with Boulder Swim Team.<\/p>\n
