WASHINGTON, D.C., September 11.\u00a0THE\u00a0George Washington Department of Athletics and Recreation has named\u00a0Anthony Crowder<\/a>\u00a0as head men\u2019s and women\u2019s diving coach entering the 2014-15 academic year. GW reinstated diving to its varsity swimming program this year to better position itself in its quest for an Atlantic 10 Championship team title.<\/span><\/p>\n

\n

\u201cI was very excited to learn that GW reinstated its diving program and I look forward to starting from the ground up and working with student-athletes to achieve their goals both in and out of the pool,\u201d Coach Crowder said. \u201cI am enthusiastic to be a part of a program that will continue to grow and evolve, and I look forward to representing our team and Raising High at the A-10 Championships for the first time in years.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Coach Crowder comes to GW after serving as an assistant coach at Carolina Diving Academy in Huntersville, North Carolina where he helped design skill development for approximately 100 divers, ranging in ability level from beginning to elite, including Olympic Trial qualifiers, while he helped train high school divers to prepare for regional and state championships. Coach Crowder oversaw two individual AAU National Champions and three top-five AAU National Championship finishers. The 2012 program took home the AAU National Championship team title while the 2013 squad finished fourth.<\/span><\/p>\n

Throughout his six-year tenure at the Carolina Diving Academy, Coach Crowder helped his men\u2019s and women\u2019s teams combine to claim three USA Diving Junior Region 3 Championship crowns and eight top-five finishes. The squad also took home first overall at the 2014 American Invitational Diving Championships with first-place finishes on both the men\u2019s and women\u2019s sides.<\/span><\/p>\n

From 2011-13, Coach Crowder served as the head diving coach at Wingate University where he produced NCAA Division II National Championships zone qualifiers and 2012 one-meter National Champion and All-American Lindsey Taylor. He also spent one season as the head diving coach at Urbana High School in 2007-08, where he developed skills and prepared divers for regional and sectional meets while also managing strength and conditioning workouts.<\/span><\/p>\n

A USA Diving Senior and Masters level competitive diver, Coach Crowder was a 2005 All-American and Illinois High School State Championship runner-up. He owns a USA Diving Coaching Certification, and recently graduated from Charlotte in the spring of 2014 with a bachelor\u2019s degree in business administration with a double concentration in management and marketing.<\/span><\/p>\n
