IRVINE, California, September 10. Ranked the top swimmer in the Class of 2015 by CollegeSwimming.com<\/a>, SoCal’s Ella Eastin has committed to Stanford according to her Twitter account. She joins world-record holder Katie Ledecky in what is looking to be an amazing class for Stanford head coach Greg Meehan already with a full year of recruiting left to go.<\/p>\n

While Ledecky is a favorite for her second straight Swimming World<\/em> World Swimmer of the Year title this year as the first woman since Janet Evans to hold the world record in the 400, 800 and 1500-meter freestyle events, she is currently ranked just fourth\u00a0in the Class of 2015 by CollegeSwimming.com<\/a> due to the premium put on sprint freestyles at the NCAA level.<\/p>\n

Eastin, who preps at Crean Lutheran South and trained with SoCal Aquatics, has a chance to not only have a full load of individual events, but has some serious sprint speed as well. \u00a0She has a world-class 200-yard IM with the national independent school record of 1:55.15 in the event from the 2013 CIF-SS Division 3 Championships, she also has a truckload of other swims ranked in the high 900 range based on FINA power points.<\/p>\n

She has a 4:05.25 in the 400-yard IM as well as a 53.72 in the 100-yard back to put her in play for the medley relays at Stanford. \u00a0She also has a swift 49.77 in the 100-yard free and a 1:48.33 in the 200-yard free as a likely freestyle relay member as well.<\/p>\n

Eastin is also a force in the fly and IMs in long course competition. \u00a0She just competed at the Junior Pan Pacific Championships with a 1:00.72 in the 100-meter fly and a 2:13.12 in the 200-meter IM. The latter swim clinched her the individual title in the event.<\/p>\n

And, for good measure, she participated on the 2013 FINA World Cup circuit as part of the Junior National Team and has a strong set of short course meter times to her credit with a 2:10.57 in the 200-meter IM and a 4:33.53 in the 400-meter IM.<\/p>\n

Eastin also trained with Irvine Novaquatics earlier in her career.<\/p>\n
