Bick<\/p>\n<p>AUSTIN, Texas, August 30. THE University of Arizona claimed a verbal commitment from Quinn Carrozza today, giving the Wildcats a strong addition to next year\u2019s freshman class.<\/p>\n<p>Carrozza will be an asset across the board for Arizona, but based on her best times in short course yards, the 100 and 200 freestyles look to be her most valuable events. That not only helps the team in the 100 free after losing multiple NCAA champion Margo Geer to graduation, but gives Arizona a strong relay swimmer. Carrozza\u2019s best time of 50.14 in the 100-yard freestyle was swum in 2011, while her 1:44.94 in the 200-yard free was posted back in 2012. Carrozza\u2019s 200 free is only a second off the automatic qualifying time of 1:43.90 for the NCAA championships, meaning she could contribute quickly for Arizona when she arrives on campus in the fall of 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Carrozza also has senior national times in the 100- and 200-yard butterfly events, with times of 54.99 and 2:01.72, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>In long course, Carrozza shines brightest in the 200 free. Her best time of 1:58.31 from last year\u2019s junior nationals would have placed fifth at senior nationals earlier this month. Carrozza could only manage a 37th-place time of 2:02.83 in Irvine this year.<\/p>\n<p>Carrozza was a member of Team USA at the junior world championships last year, taking two bronze medals in the 200 free (1:59.69) and 400 free (4:11.14) as well as gold in the women\u2019s 800 free relay. As a part of USA Swimming\u2019s national junior team, she traveled to Asia for two World Cup meets, earning top-eight finishes in the 200 free, 400 free and 200 back.<\/p>\n<p>Carrozza hails from Austin, Texas. She swims for Longhorn Aquatics, with a brief stint competing for Nitro Swimming.<\/p>\n<p>Carrozza is also the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.collegeswimming.com\/swimmer\/166106\/\" target=\"_blank\">6th ranked swimmer in the Class of 2015 by CollegeSwimming.com as well as the top ranked swimmer in the State of Texas<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Photo Courtesy: Peter H.
