RICHMOND, Va. January, 31. SOPHOMORE Jessica Witt and freshman Lauren Beaudreau picked up more weekly honors from the Atlantic 10, officials announced Monday. Witt was named the Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week and Beaudreau earned co-Rookie of the Week honors along with Ashley Ukleja of Fordham. Both Witt and Beaudreau helped the Spiders to a 157.5-136.5 win over the William & Mary Tribe in the Robins Center Natatorium Saturday, Jan. 28, in Richmond, Va.<\/p>\n
Witt, who has now won the Atlantic 10 Performer of the Week honor four times this season, walked away with three event wins against the Tribe Saturday. The Fullerton, Calif., native won the 200 free in 1:54.24, the 200 back (2:04.88) and the 100 fly (59.30). The 100 fly event, for Witt, marked the first time she had swam in the event this season. She has now won 10 of 18 individual events she has swam this season, including first time swim-wins.<\/p>\n
Beaudreau\u2019s honor, which marks her third Rookie of the Week award this season, comes after posting two wins in Richmond\u2019s victory over the Tribe. The Lafayette, Calif., native won the 100 breast in 1:06.07, and the 200 breast in 2:19.02. She previously held a personal-best of 2:19.86 in the 200 breast, but with her time Saturday improved her second-place all-time standing in Richmond history by sixth-tenths of a second.<\/p>\n
The Spiders remain at home this weekend when they host Navy, Saturday, Feb. 4 in the Robins Center Natatorium. Richmond will honor seniors Megan Benner and Anne Kirchner, who will be swimming for the final time at home, prior to the duel which begins at 2 p.m. Admission to the event is free.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
