ATLANTA, Georgia. January, 29. SENIORS Brian Huff, Meghan DeVinney, Ashley Kracke, Sam Morgan and Laurissa Prystaj tallied-first place finishes to lead the Georgia Tech men\u2019s and women\u2019s swimming and diving teams to a sweep over Emory University, 173-118 (men) and 161-139 (women), in the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center on Saturday afternoon.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt\u2019s a great way for our seniors to finish their career at home,\u201d said head coach Stuart Wilson. \u201cNow we need to focus on the ACC Championships which will begin in two weeks for the women and three for the men.\u201d<\/p>\n
Huff, a native of Marietta, Ga., clocked a season-best time of 46.46 in the men\u2019s 100-yard freestyle to capture the event for the Yellow Jackets.<\/p>\n
DeVinney, a native of Avondale, Ariz., finished first in the women\u2019s 100 butterfly with a time of 59.18. Kracke touched the wall in first place in the women\u2019s 200 backstroke with a time of 2:06.25. The Vestavia Hills, Ala., native finished second in the 100 back with a time of 59.23.<\/p>\n
Morgan, a native of Gainesville, Ga., won the men\u2019s 1650 free with a time of 9:30.01. Prystaj, a native of Fairport, N.Y., won the women\u2019s one-meter springboard with a NCAA Zone qualifying score of 289.05.<\/p>\n
The men\u2019s senior 200 freestyle relay team of Teemu Kettunen, Jason Howard, Ryan Riebesell and Huff finished first with a time of 1:24.41.<\/p>\n
Sophomore Elizabeth Stowe captured the women\u2019s 500 and 1,000 freestyle events with times of 5:01.60 and 10:13.37, respectively.<\/p>\n
Freshman Caroline Jones won the women\u2019s 200 free with a time of 1:53.29 and freshman Noah Copland clocked a time of 1:42.05 in the men\u2019s 200 free to finish in first place for the Jackets. Junior Ryan Bishop tallied a first-place finish in the men\u2019s 100 breaststroke with a time of 58.25, while sophomore Jason Bourgeois touched the wall in 52.62 in the men\u2019s 100 backstroke to finish first.<\/p>\n
Junior Vesna Stojanovska posted a time of 2:08.07 in the women\u2019s 200 fly to finish in first place for Tech. Junior Natanya Harper tallied a first-place finish in the women\u2019s 50 free with a time of 24.46 and sophomore Jacob Kwasnik clocked a personal-best time of 21.30 in the men\u2019s 50 free to finish first.<\/p>\n
Junior Tony Burkhardt tallied a score of 372.53 on the men\u2019s one-meter board to finish in first place. Sophomore Evan Stowers finished first on the three-meter board with a NCAA Zone qualifying mark of 359.93, while sophomore Stephanie England won the women\u2019s three-meter board with a NCAA Zone mark of 306.52.<\/p>\n
Junior Alison Walker posted a season-best time of 2:24.26 in the women\u2019s 200 breast to touch the wall first for the Jackets. Freshman Mari McLeod won the women\u2019s 100 free with a time of 52.72.<\/p>\n
Freshman Andy Miller clocked a season-best time of 2:09.18 in the men\u2019s 200 breast to finish in first place for the Rambling Wreck. Redshirt freshman Chris Ewald finished first in the men\u2019s 500 free with a time of 4:36.92.<\/p>\n
The Yellow Jackets will not be in action again until the Atlantic Coast Conference Championships, hosted by the University of Maryland. The women\u2019s meet will run Feb. 15-18, and the men\u2019s meet will run Feb. 22-25.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
