January, 27.  NORTHWESTERN handily defeated Iowa, 186-108, on Senior Night Friday evening in the Norris Aquatics Center, winning 14-of-16 events in its final dual meet of the season.<\/p>\n<p>Senior Katie Paglini (Chicago, Ill.\/Latin School) led the charge for the seniors, earning two<br \/>\nindividual wins and one relay victory.<\/p>\n<p>Two of the Wildcats&#39; seniors made sure the team got off to a good start on senior night. Paglini put the &#39;Cats in a position to win the 200 medley relay, and Michelle Oeser (Eliot, Maine\/Marshwood) finished it off, touching the wall with a time of 1:46.60 to claim the victory and lead in the dual.<\/p>\n<p>Fellow senior Amy Mueller (Tampa, Fla.\/Hillsborough) kept the momentum in<br \/>\nNorthwestern&#39;s favor, outlasting Iowa&#39;s Ashley Dell in the 1000 free with a time of<br \/>\n10:19.75.<\/p>\n<p>The Wildcats (5-5) claimed a 1-2 finish in the third event of the evening, the 200 free. Sophomore Andrea Hupman (Lawrenceville, Ga.\/Brookwood) earned the first-place finish for the &#39;Cats, finishing with a time of 1:50.29. Senior Sara Petric (Mequon, Wis.\/Homestead) came in second, providing Northwestern with some much needed points.<\/p>\n<p>Paglini kept the solid senior-night showing intact by nearly snatching a victory in the 100 backstroke. Paglini finished second with a time of 57.91.<\/p>\n<p>The &#39;Cats returned to their winning ways in the next event, the 100 breast. Freshman Hayley Fry (Marion, Iowa\/Linn-Mar) swam a time of 1:04.85 to earn the victory. <\/p>\n<p>Two more 1-2 finishes gave Northwestern a commanding 95-53 lead heading into the first intermission. Sophomore Katie Braun (Edina, Minn.\/Edina) swam to an easy victory in the 200 fly, touching the wall with a time of 2:01.96 to win by nearly five seconds. Teammate Katie Welnhofer (Wilmette, Ill.\/New Trier) held off the Iowa swimmers to claim second-<br \/>\nplace for the &#39;Cats as well.<\/p>\n<p>In what was essentially a replay of the 200 free, Hupman earned her second victory of the night in the 50 free with a time of 24.06. Petric was right behind Hupman, claiming her second second-place finish of the night.<\/p>\n<p>Swimming in her second straight event, Petric led the Wildcats out of the break by claiming her third second-place finish on Senior Night in the 50 free.<\/p>\n<p>Paglini kept the Wildcats rolling by exacting revenge for her loss in the 100 back by winning in the 200 back in a time of 2:02.49.<\/p>\n<p>Freshman Fry continued the Wildcats&#39; dominance by earning a victory in the 200 breast. Fry&#39;s time of 2:20.22 gave the &#39;Cats their second three-event winning streak of the meet.<\/p>\n<p>The Wildcats then made it four in a row as Hupman swam and won an event does not typically swim, the 500 free.<\/p>\n<p>Diver Chelsea Davis (Columbus, Ohio\/Worthington Kilbourne) continued her dominance of Big Ten competition, winning both diving events.
