The USA Women won their second straight FINA World Cup title with a 10-6 victory over Australia and with it ascended to the number one ranking in FINA. Powered by three goals from\u00a0<\/span><a style=\"color: #1155cc;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.usawaterpolo.org\/sports\/w-senior\/mtt\/melissa_seidemann_833888.html\" target=\"_blank\">Melissa Seidemann<\/a><span style=\"color: #222222;\">\u00a0(Walnut Creek, CA\/Stanford\/NYAC) and 16 saves from\u00a0<\/span><a style=\"color: #1155cc;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.usawaterpolo.org\/sports\/w-senior\/mtt\/sami_hill_833890.html\" target=\"_blank\">Sami Hill<\/a><span style=\"color: #222222;\">\u00a0(Santa Barbara, CA\/UCLA\/SBWPF) in the title match, the United States earned their third World Cup title in program history. Hill and fellow goalkeeper\u00a0<\/span><a style=\"color: #1155cc;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.usawaterpolo.org\/sports\/w-senior\/mtt\/ashleigh_johnson_906766.html\" target=\"_blank\">Ashleigh Johnson<\/a><span style=\"color: #222222;\">\u00a0(Miami, FL\/Princeton\/Gulliver Riptides) took turns in goal for Team USA all tournament long. For her efforts Johnson was named the tournament&#8217;s top goalkeeper despite not playing in the title game. The United States scored the first goal of the second period to build a 4-1 advantage before Australia stopped the run with a goal. That did little to slow the Team USA offense as they added three more goals in the period and eventually held a 7-3 lead at halftime. Australia battled back in the third period drawing to within 7-5 with\u00a0<\/span><span class=\"aBn\" style=\"color: #222222;\" tabindex=\"0\" data-term=\"goog_642222239\"><span class=\"aQJ\">4:31<\/span><\/span><span style=\"color: #222222;\">\u00a0to play before the United States hit the accelerator again and quickly went up 10-5 by the end of the quarter.\u00a0<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\">Australia would muster a final goal in the fourth period but the work was done for the United States as they came away winners 10-6. Team USA went 5\/7 on power plays and 1\/1 on penalty shots while Australia was 3\/10 on power plays and 0\/1 on penalty shots. Other goal scorers for the United States included\u00a0<\/span><a style=\"color: #1155cc;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.usawaterpolo.org\/sports\/w-senior\/mtt\/courtney_mathewson_833881.html\" target=\"_blank\">Courtney Mathewson<\/a><span style=\"color: #222222;\">\u00a0(Anaheim Hills, CA\/UCLA\/NYAC) and\u00a0<\/span><a style=\"color: #1155cc;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.usawaterpolo.org\/sports\/w-senior\/mtt\/kiley_neushul_846599.html\" target=\"_blank\">Kiley Neushul<\/a><span style=\"color: #222222;\">\u00a0(Goleta, CA\/Stanford\/SBWPF) who scored two goals each along with the trio of\u00a0<\/span><a style=\"color: #1155cc;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.usawaterpolo.org\/sports\/w-senior\/mtt\/rachel_fattal_846597.html\" target=\"_blank\">Rachel Fattal<\/a><span style=\"color: #222222;\">(Seal Beach, CA\/UCLA\/SOCAL)\u00a0<\/span><a style=\"color: #1155cc;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.usawaterpolo.org\/sports\/w-senior\/mtt\/maggie_steffens_833878.html\" target=\"_blank\">Maggie Steffens<\/a><span style=\"color: #222222;\">\u00a0(Danville, CA\/Stanford\/Diablo), and\u00a0<\/span><a style=\"color: #1155cc;\" href=\"http:\/\/www.usawaterpolo.org\/sports\/w-senior\/mtt\/kami_craig_833864.html\" target=\"_blank\">Kami Craig<\/a><span style=\"color: #222222;\">\u00a0(Santa Barbara, CA\/USC\/SBWPF) scoring one goal each.\u00a0<\/span><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><br style=\"color: #222222;\" \/><span style=\"color: #222222;\">&#8220;We got off to a great start. The combination of our defense and Sami&#8217;s outstanding performance in the cage was huge. Australia&#8217;s Rowie Webster was named tournament MVP while Hungary&#8217;s Rita Keszthelyi was the tourney&#8217;s top scorer.
