BERLIN, Germany, August 17. THE initial heat sheets for the 2014 European Championships are now available, with the meet just starting in less than 24 hours in Berlin, Germany.<\/p>\n

As previously reported, Katinka Hosszu will definitely be showing off her Iron Lady moniker with 10 entries.<\/p>\n

Hosszu will compete in the women’s 400 IM (4:30.41), 200 back (2:08.93), 100 free (54.97), 200 IM (2:07.92), 100 back (59.40), 100 fly (58.91), 200 free (1:56.30), 50 back (28.52), 200 fly (2:05.59) and 400 free (4:05.51), an insane lineup that will likely include finals as well in nearly all of those events.<\/span>

A couple of world records could definitely be in jeopardy this week. Sweden\u2019s Sarah Sjoestroem, who already lowered the world record in the women\u2019s 50 fly recently with a 24.43, will have a chance to take that record even lower\u00a0<\/span>tomorrow<\/span><\/span>. She\u2019ll also be chasing Dana Vollmer\u2019s 100 fly world record of 55.98 from the 2012 Olympics, and is within striking distance of Britta Steffen\u2019s 52.07 in the 100 free with a 52.73.<\/span>

Great Britain\u2019s Ross Murdoch is only three tenths away from crashing through the\u00a0<\/span>2:07<\/span><\/span>\u00a0barrier in the men\u2019s 200 breast with a 2:07.30. Akihiro Yamaguchi of Japan currently holds the world record in that event at 2:07.01. Meanwhile, Denmark\u2019s Rikke Moeller Pedersen will be chasing her own world record of 2:19.11 in the women\u2019s 200 breast, which she set at last summer\u2019s World Championships.<\/span>

Lithuania\u2019s Ruta Meilutyte, who will make a very quick turnaround from the Youth Olympic Games to the European Championships, could reset her own 50 breast world record if she can squeeze under the 29.48 she set last summer.<\/span>

The meet kicks off\u00a0<\/span>tomorrow<\/span><\/span>\u00a0morning with preliminary action in the men\u2019s 400 free, women\u2019s 50 fly, men\u2019s 100 back, women\u2019s 400 IM, men\u2019s 100 breast, women\u2019s 200 back, men\u2019s 50 fly and men\u2019s 4×100 free relay.<\/span><\/p>\n
