KNOXVILLE, Tennessee, August 16.\u00a0FOUR\u00a0gold medals were awarded\u00a0Saturday<\/span>\u00a0at the AT&T National Diving Championships, and divers from Longhorn Aquatics had a hand in three of them. Four-time Olympian\u00a0Troy Dumais<\/strong>\u00a0(Ventura, Calif.\/Austin, Texas) placed first in men\u2019s 3-meter,\u00a0Samantha \u201cMurphy\u201d Bromberg<\/strong>\u00a0(Bexley, Ohio\/Austin, Texas) won women\u2019s 10-meter, and\u00a0Mark Anderson<\/strong>\u00a0(Lake Forest, Calif.\/Austin, Texas) and\u00a0Toby Stanley<\/strong>\u00a0(Noblesville, Ind.) won men\u2019s synchronized 10-meter. 2008 Olympian\u00a0Ariel Rittenhouse<\/strong>\u00a0(Santa Cruz, Calif.) and\u00a0Amanda Burke<\/strong>\u00a0(Southampton, Pa.\/State College, Pa.) rounded out\u00a0Saturday\u2019s<\/span>\u00a0gold medalists with a win in women\u2019s synchronized 3-meter.<\/p>\n Dumais won his 36th<\/sup>\u00a0career national title with 492.30 points to place first in men\u2019s 3-meter. The 2012 Olympic bronze medalist scored more than 80 points on four of his six dives, with 94.50 points on his reverse 3 \u00bd tuck in round five. He closed out his day with 81.60 points on his front 2 \u00bd with 2 twists to secure his most recent national title at age 34.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m coming off the best month of training I\u2019ve had in a long time. I could have done better, but I\u2019m pleased with how I dove,\u201d Dumais said. \u201cI took (Friday<\/span>) off. That\u2019s something I wouldn\u2019t normally have done in the past. My legs felt great today. I don\u2019t recover as fast as the younger divers anymore, but I still enjoy diving and I still love competing. The younger divers push me, and if I can push them too, that\u2019s great for our sport all around.\u201d<\/p>\n Aaron Fleshner<\/strong>\u00a0(Spring, Texas\/Tuscaloosa, Ala.), who won the 1-meter title\u00a0on Wednesday<\/span>, was second with 449.25 points.\u00a0Darian Schmidt<\/strong>\u00a0(Bloomington, Ind.) was third at 446.50.<\/p>\n Bromberg scored 368.15 points to easily win her third career 10-meter national title, finishing 55.55 points ahead of her closest competitor. In second place after round one, she took the lead with 89.10 points on her back 3 \u00bd tuck in round two and scored 83.20 points on her inward 3 \u00bd tuck in round four. She scored just 49.60 points on her final dive (a back 2 \u00bd with 1 \u00bd twists), but she had already secured the win before she did the dive.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m happy with my performance, although I wish that last dive would have been a little better. That\u2019s my struggle dive right now. Other than that, I thought my other dives were pretty good,\u201d Bromberg said.<\/p>\n Annika Lenz<\/strong>\u00a0(Altadena, Calif.\/Los Angeles) was second at 312.60, and\u00a0Olivia Rosendahl<\/strong>\u00a0(Los Angeles) was third with 301.70 points.<\/p>\n Burke and Rittenhouse scored 311.70 points to win their first national title as a synchro team. Rittenhouse won two synchro national titles in 2007 and 2008 with\u00a0Kelci Bryant<\/strong>, her synchro partner at the 2008 Olympic Games. Burke and Rittenhouse led the entire contest\u00a0Saturday<\/span>\u00a0and closed out their list with 73.80 points on their back 2 \u00bd pike and 71.10 points on their front 2 \u00bd with a twist.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m excited to be diving with Ariel. I never thought I\u2019d have the opportunity to be matched up with her in synchro. She\u2019s someone I\u2019ve always looked up to,\u201d Burke said. \u201cWe\u2019ve been focusing on our timing, and I knew once we got that down, we\u2019d match up well.\u201d<\/p>\n Deidre Freeman<\/strong>\u00a0(Grinnell, Iowa) and\u00a0Maren Taylor<\/strong>\u00a0(Arlington, Va.\/Austin, Texas) were second with 284.40 points, while\u00a0Sarah Bacon<\/strong>\u00a0(Indianapolis, Ind.) and\u00a0Brooke Schultz<\/strong>\u00a0(Cicero, Ind.) scored 279.96 points for third.<\/p>\n Anderson and Stanley finished with 383.40 points, highlighted by 78.72 points on their back 2 \u00bd with 1 \u00bd twists in the final round, to win their first national title in 10-meter synchro.<\/p>\n \u201cI\u2019m really happy with how we dove. We improved our score by 20 points from the prelims to win our first national title. We knew we could do it.
