HIGHTSTOWN, New Jersey, January 19. THEY\u2019LL see each other again next month, during the prestigious Eastern Interscholastic Championships at La Salle University in Philadelphia. But, in terms of dual-meet bragging rights, Germantown Academy got the best of the Peddie School. The top-flight private schools met Wednesday afternoon with the Patriots securing an impressive triumph.<\/p>\n
Under the guidance of legendary coach Dick Shoulberg, Germantown Academy posted one-two-three sweeps in a trio of events — the 200 freestyle, 200 individual medley and the 500 freestyle. More, the Patriots prevailed in the 200 medley relay and 400 free relay. Stellar times were produced across the board, some difficult to fathom for a scholastic dual meet.<\/p>\n
Germantown was powered, as expected, by Alicia Aemisegger. A Princeton recruit, Aemisegger posted individual triumphs in the 200 I.M. (2:01.83) and the 100 breaststroke (1:04.14). She also contributed to the triumphant medley relay (1:47.43) and victorious 400 free relay (3:30.10). The third-place finisher in the 400 I.M. at last year\u2019s United State World Championship Trials, Aemisegger split 51.12 for her leg of the 400 free relay.<\/p>\n
Teresa Crippen, who recently competed at the Victorian Championships in Melbourne as a member of the United States National Junior Team, doubled in the 100 butterfly (57.53) and 100 backstroke (56.57) and was on the winning relays. During her trip to Australia, Crippen claimed gold medals in the 200 backstroke and 400 individual medley.<\/p>\n
Lauren Sylvester also accounted for a pair of wins for the Patriots, as she touched the wall first in the 200 free (1:53.50) and the 500 free (4:56.31). Meanwhile, Katie Riefenstahl prevailed in the 100 freestyle (51.56) and was second in the 50 free (24.18). Sara Coenen, known as a relay dynamo, was second in the 200 free (1:54.15) and second in the 100 free (52.80). Claire Crippen had a second-place effort in the 200 I.M. (2:07.42).<\/p>\n
For Peddie, which went a stellar 1:48.00 in the medley relay, Amywren Miller was first in the 50 free with a clocking of 24.15. Miller also contributed to the winning 200 free relay, teaming with Annie Fittin, Amy Jacobi and Alexis Jordan for a performance of 1:37.36. <\/p>\n
