KNOXVILLE, Tennessee, August 16.\u00a02008 Olympian\u00a0Ariel Rittenhouse<\/strong>\u00a0(Santa Cruz, Calif.) finished first in the women\u2019s 3-meter semifinals\u00a0Friday<\/span>\u00a0at the AT&T National Diving Championships to lead the field of 12 advancing to\u00a0Sunday\u2019s<\/span>finals, while\u00a0Ryan Hawkins<\/strong>\u00a0(Charlotte, N.C.\/Blacksburg, Va.) was the\u00a0<\/strong>top qualifier out of the men\u2019s 10-meter semifinals.<\/p>\n Rittenhouse finished with 316.45 points to lead the women\u2019s 3-meter field. She opened the semifinals with 70.50 points on her back 2 \u00bd pike and led throughout the entire contest, scoring 66 points or higher on four of her five dives.<\/p>\n 2014 World Cup team members\u00a0Laura Ryan<\/strong>\u00a0(Elk River, Minn.\/Athens, Ga.)\u00a0 and\u00a0Maren Taylor<\/strong>\u00a0(Arlington, Va.\/Austin, Texas) finished second and third with 306.50 and 306.30 points, respectively. In seventh place through three rounds, Ryan jumped up to second place after scoring 66 points on an inward 2 \u00bd pike and 67.50 points on a front 2 \u00bd with a twist in the last two rounds. Taylor had two dives score 67.50 points, her first-round inward 2 \u00bd pike and her fourth-round reverse 2 \u00bd pike.<\/p>\n Hawkins finished with 459.00 points, just ahead of second-place finisher\u00a0Jordan Windle<\/strong>\u00a0(Morrisville, N.C.), who scored 457.50 points. Hawkins earned 85 points or higher on three of his six dives, with his best coming in the last round when the judges awarded him 95.40 points on his back 2 \u00bd with 2 \u00bd twists.
