CLEVELAND, Ohio, August 14. ANOTHER week of taper was just what Brian Jacobson needed, as the 40-year-old today lowered the Masters long course world record he set last week at the FINA Masters world championships in the 50 free.<\/p>\n
At the Gay Games in Cleveland, Jacobson blitzed the field with a 23.31, a bit faster than the 23.43 he swam in Montreal last week leading off Minnesota Masters’ 200 free relay. That time broke his own world record of 23.60 that he set last year.<\/p>\n
Jacobson is a former USA Swimming national team member and was the second-oldest competitor at the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials. He swam in the 50 free there, finishing 82nd with a 23.35.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
