PHOENIX, Arizona, June 30. THE U.S. Olympic Committee recently named the four cities on the shortlist for the bid to host the 2024 Summer Olympics. The USOC will pick one of these cities either later this year or early next year as the official USA candidate city. That city will compete with others around the world for the right to be picked as the 2024 Olympic host.<\/p>\n

Boston has never been a part of an Olympic bid before, but the historic city is now revving things up for a possible nod from the USOC. Coming in second in the poll was San Francisco with 25 percent. Los Angeles, which has hosted the Summer Olympics in 1932 and 1984, came in third in our poll with 15.22 percent. Our nation’s capital, Washington, D.C., was fourth with 10.33 percent.<\/p>\n<p>Last week at the Arena Grand Prix in Santa Clara, Missy Franklin was seen on deck with a security guard. In speaking with the media, she said it helps serve as a buffer between her multitude of fans, especially when she is preparing for races. Michael Phelps and Ryan Lochte also have bodyguards at swim meets, so this is nothing new. But Franklin is just a teenager and not yet a professional swimmer, so the question is: Should Missy Franklin have bodyguards at USA Swimming events?
