January,11.  UNIVERSITY of Houston freshman Anastasia Pozdniakova was honored Tuesday as the Conference USA Diver of the Week after leading the Cougars last weekend.<\/p>\n<p>It marked the second weekly award for Pozdniakova and the seventh honor by a UH diver this season.<\/p>\n<p>Pozdniakova earned a first-place finish with 281.65 points to win the 1-meter diving title at the Georgia Diving Invitational and Shootout at Gabrielsen Natatorium on Friday. Her total was nearly five points better than her closest competitor.<\/p>\n<p>SMU&#39;s Flaiva Rigamonti was honored as the league&#39;s Swimmer of the Week.<\/p>\n<p>Pozdnikova and her Cougar teammates return to action at this weekend as they play host to LSU and new C-USA rival Rice in a double-dual meet at the Campus Recreation &#038; Wellness Center Natatorium on the Houston campus. The three teams will meet at 4 p.m., Friday for the first half of the meet before wrapping up the event at 11:30 a.m., Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to Saturday&#39;s meet, the team will hold Senior Day activities. Senior swimmers Tatjana Banjeglav and Randee Billips and senior diver Stephanie Mannella will be recognized for their years of dedication to the UH program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>HOUSTON, Texas.
