JEFF Farrell, two time gold medalist at the Rome Olympics and multiple Masters world record-holder, underwent a six-hour triple bypass and bovine aortic valve replacement operation late last month. When the nurse roused him from the anesthesia to ask how he felt, he replied, \u201cMoo.\u201d <\/p>\n
That Jeff would retain his sense of humor after such a serious operation seems very much in keeping with his character. After all, what he is most famous for is having competed at the Olympic Trials in 1960 a mere six days after an emergency appendectomy. (He swam swathed in bandages, and still made the team.) <\/p>\n
