INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, August 8. SYDNEY Sell, David Crossland, Abby Jagdfeld and Jacob Miller set individual NCSA records on the fourth night of racing at the National Club Swimming Association Summer Championships, while the night concluded with a fantastic finish in the men\u2019s 800 free relay.<\/p>\n

Two individual champions went head-to-head in the first final of the night, the women\u2019s 100 back. Lakeside\u2019s Sydney Sell, winner of the 200 back, and Hershey Aquatic Club\u2019s Meaghan Raab, winner of the 50 fly, battled it out to the end, with Sell coming out ahead, 1:02.95 to 1:03.26. Sell lowered Hannah Whiteley\u2019s NCSA record of 1:03.57 in the process, set last year. Mickayla Hinkle of St. Croix Swim Club came in third in the race at 1:03.41. Delaware Swim Team\u2019s David Crossland topped the men\u2019s 100 back final in 56.74, an eight-tenth drop from prelims and new NCSA record. David Russell held the previous mark of 56.81, which he set 10 years ago in 2004. Cameron Craig of Southern Michigan Aquatic Club (57.59) and Wade O\u2019Brien of Nova of Virginia (57.74) rounded out the top three.<\/p>\n

Double event-winner Abby Jagdfeld of Waukesha Express continued what has been a fantastic meet with a third win, this time in the 400 free. Jagdfeld dropped three seconds from her prelim time and dominated the final in 4:14.68, more than four seconds ahead of Magnolia Aquatic Club\u2019s Joy Field (4:18.89). Jagdfeld also cut almost three seconds off the NCSA record of 4:17.47, set by Jessie Gvozdas last year. Taylor Pike of Razorback Aquatics picked up another podium finish with a third place effort of 4:20.13.<\/p>\n

Redbird Swim Club\u2019s Jacob Miller added a second win to his collection, topping the men\u2019s 100 free final in 50.77 after qualifying fourth in 52.17. Miller\u2019s time marked a new NCSA record, as he cut .13 from Townley Haas\u2019 2013 record of 50.90. Brody Heck of Saint Andrew\u2019s Swimming held onto his second place seed with a 51.53, while Nicholas Bigot of North Bay Aquatics came in third with a 51.82.<\/p>\n

After qualifying fourth for the women\u2019s 200 breast final in 2:38.87, Suburban Seahawks\u2019 Allyson McHugh stormed by the field in tonight\u2019s final, touching first in 2:35.53. Third seed Peyton Greenberg of Lakeside also dropped a chunk from prelims, finishing second tonight in 2:36.26. Saint Andrew\u2019s Rachael Bradford-Feldman, the top seed, wound up third in 2:36.86. Meanwhile, the men\u2019s 200 breast final came down to the final yard, as Rockwood\u2019s Phillip Willett out-touched Nova of Virginia\u2019s Charles Swanson for the title, 2:19.20 to 2:19.26. Jacob Zucker got to the wall third with a time of 2:20.28.<\/p>\n

Poseidon\u2019s Madison Boswell raced to her first win of the meet, coming out ahead of a close field in the women\u2019s 100 fly. Boswell stopped the clock in 1:01.22 to just sneak by Lakeside\u2019s Asia Seidt, who posted a 1:01.35. Hershey Aquatic Club\u2019s Meaghan Raab finished on the podium for the second time tonight with a third place swim of 1:01.51. The top six swimmers in the men\u2019s 100 fly final touched within three tenths of each other, led by Nation\u2019s Capital\u2019s Nicholas McGarry in 55.37. Badger\u2019s Jonathan Marsh hit the wall second in 55.48, with Nation\u2019s Capital\u2019s Samuel Pomajevich only .02 behind in third in 55.50.<\/p>\n

Tonight\u2019s finals session ended on a thrilling note as two teams tied for first in the men\u2019s 800 free relay. Redbird Swim Club\u2019s Jared Schimmelpfenning, Steven Fishman, Andrew Loy and Jacob Miller matched the Northern Kentucky Clippers squad of Michael Summe, Austin Haney, Zachary Smith and Brendan Meyer in equal 7:42.93s. Lakeside\u2019s foursome of Eric Grimes, Trey Hubbuch, Clayton Forde and Noah Johnston was also in the mix with a third place effort of 7:43.49.<\/p>\n

Through 33 events, Nation\u2019s Capital leads the team standings with 1,475 points, followed by Lakeside Swim Team (1,135) and Academy Bullets (1,017.5). Nation\u2019s Capital also leads both the men\u2019s and women\u2019s team races as well.<\/p>\n
