BEAVERTON, Ore., December 14. THREE-Time Olympic Gold Medalist Aaron Peirsol will support competitive swimming in China. Peirsol, on a Nike-sponsored trip from December 16 through December 21 in Beijing, will provide motivational speaking opportunities, autograph sessions, a press conference and a youth clinic for 7-9 year olds. The educational tour presented in conjunction with Premier Management Group will feature in water-stroke and technique drills, motivational talks, plus Aaron\u2019s Olympic stories for the swimmers. I have always wanted swimming to have an ambassador to travel throughout the world and excite swimmers, parents, and the community in general about the great sport that I have dedicated my life to promoting and I now have that opportunity. A 22-year-old Irvine, California native, Peirsol is an Olympic gold medalist in both the 100-meter and 200-meter backstroke events and the 4×100-meter medley relay. He has five individual world championship gold medals, has been a world record holder since he was seventeen years of age, and was named the 2005 USA Swimming Athlete of the Year and Swimming World Magazine\u2019s<\/i> American Swimmer of the Year.<\/p>\n
The charismatic backstroker joins Nike in an effort to assist Chinese athletes and coaches in improving performances in international competition by interacting with the children of Beijing. Peirsol hopes to pique their interest in swimming and inspire them to set and reach their goals in and out of the water.<\/p>\n
