KNOWN more for her abilities in the 500 and 1650 coming off her freshman season at the University of Virginia, Leah Smith made a statement when she claimed the third seed in the prelims of the women\u2019s 200 free, and she held onto that place in the final, clocking 1:57.57 to make her first national team. Smith spoke afterwards of what it meant to be on the team for the first time and also her surprise at her first major team coming in the shortest of her specialty events.<\/p>\n
