INDIANAPOLIS, Indiana, August 7. ABBY Jagdfeld, Shea Hoyt and Jacob Miller set new individual NCSA records while Poseidon Swimming took down the women\u2019s 400 free relay record during the third night of racing at the National Club Swimming Association Summer Swimming Championships at the IUPUI Natatorium in Indianapolis.<\/p>\n
Night three began with finals of the women\u2019s and men\u2019s 200 freestyle. After winning the 100 free last night in a new NCSA record, Waukesha Express\u2019 Abby Jagdfeld rocketed to a second victory in 2:00.31, crushing her own NCSA record from prelims that had stood at 2:01.43. Kelsey Vetalice of The Woodlands came in more than two seconds later in 2:02.71, while Caitlin Clements of Magnolia Aquatic Club touched third in 2:03.86. The top five finishers in the men\u2019s 200 free final touched within .73 of each other, with Edina\u2019s Erick Huft leading the way at 1:53.26. Southern Michigan Aquatic Club\u2019s Cameron Craig moved up from fourth to second with his 1:53.47, while Bowen Anderson of Michiana Stars rounded out the top three in 1:53.82.<\/p>\n
St. Charles Swim Team\u2019s Shea Hoyt made it a sweep of the sprint breaststroke titles, adding a win in the 50 breast to her victory in the 100 last night. Hoyt got to the wall first in 32.86, taking a tenth off Lauren Beaudreau\u2019s 2004 NCSA record of 32.96 and finishing comfortably ahead of Lindsay Adamski of Lake Country (33.23). Vivian Tafuto of Hershey Aquatic Club earned another top three finish with her 33.48. Meanwhile, Ben Gorski of Arlington Aquatic Club picked up a two-tenth win in the men\u2019s 50 breast final, out-touching Mercy Healthplex\u2019s Pearce Kieser, 29.59 to 29.79, for the win. The Woodlands\u2019 Jonathan Tybur, winner of the 100 breast last night, finished third in 29.90.<\/p>\n
After qualifying second this morning, Hershey Aquatic Club\u2019s Meaghan Raab snuck by Poseidon\u2019s Casey Franz in tonight\u2019s 50 fly final, 28.00 to 28.14. Gabriela Vieira of CSP Tideriders snuck into third position with a 28.23. Matthew Harrington of Cats Aquatic Team held onto his top ranking in the men\u2019s sprint fly final, touching first in 25.14. Ryan Huizing of Northwest Aquatic Club came in second at 25.34, followed closely by Great Wolf Swim Team\u2019s Colter Allen in 25.36.<\/p>\n
In the women\u2019s 400 IM, Suburban Seahawks\u2019 Allyson McHugh held off Poseidon\u2019s Madison Boswell for the win, 4:52.05 to 4:53.27. Boswell finished second for the second time in the meet after also finishing in the runner-up spot in the 200 fly last night. Lakeside\u2019s Brooke Forde rounded out the top three finishers in 4:56.02. In the men\u2019s 400 IM final, Redbird Swim Club\u2019s Jacob Miller chopped more than five seconds off his prelim swim and nine seconds off his previous personal best to crush the field with a 4:26.04, tying Robert Owen\u2019s NCSA record from last year. Joseph Young of Southeastern Swim Club, the top qualifier from prelims, dropped another second off his personal best to finish second in 4:28.55, while Jackson Lindell of Edina claimed third in 4:29.81.<\/p>\n
In relay action, Poseidon brought home the women\u2019s 400 free relay win as Casey Franz, Katherine Nezelek, Hailey Ladd and Sydney Pesetti completed the race in 3:51.98 to break Rose Bowl Aquatics\u2019 NCSA record of 3:52.58 from last year. Lakeside\u2019s foursome of Bryn Handley, Monica McGrath, Cameron Brown and Brooke Bauer touched half a second behind in 3:52.50, followed by Academy Bullets\u2019 Avery Braunecker, Kayla Filipek, Madison Haschemeyer and Hanna Blankemeier in 3:53.28.<\/p>\n
Grant Goddard, James Patrick, Luke Thorsell and Adrian Lin posted the fastest time in the men\u2019s 400 free relay at 3:30.40, just missing the NCSA record of 3:30.22. Theo Andrews, Stefan Kranenburg, Sheldon Boboff and Nicholas Bigot gave North Bay Aquatics a second place finish with their 3:31.27, not far ahead of Redbird Swim Club\u2019s Steven Fishman, Andrew Loy, Jared Schimmelpfenning and Jacob Miller, who touched in 3:31.50.<\/p>\n
