IRVINE, California, August 7. ANDEE Cottrell is a name many might not have expected to see in the list of championship finalists in the women\u2019s 200 breaststroke at the USA Swimming nationals, and Cottrell is one of them.<\/p>\n

The incoming sophomore at the University of Louisville surprised even herself when she dropped five seconds from her lifetime best to qualify seventh in the final. The wait through five heats to see herself stay in the top eight was a bit agonizing, and resulted in happy tears from Cottrell and her teammates.<\/p>\n

Cottrell talked after her race about her goals coming into the race, and what helped her in training this season to surpass her goals.<\/p>\n
