HERZLIYA, Israel, August 4. THE European swimming federation, Ligue Europ\u00e9enne de Natation, voted over the weekend to move the location and dates of the next European short course championships to December 2015 in the Israeli city of Herzliya.<\/p>\n
This is a full 11 months later than originally planned. LEN had voted to host the event in mid-January in Netanya, Israel, but after concerns came to light regarding the possibility of low participation numbers, the LEN Bureau held a mail-in vote to determine if the meet should be moved. The Israeli Swimming Federation also asked LEN to consider moving the meet 36 miles down the Mediterranean coast.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe overall sports calendar in January is quite overloaded, and LEN wishes to avoid a clash with most of the other main sport events, as well as its own continental organisations counterparts, in order to properly value the due outcome of the aquatic product to offer worldwide\u201d LEN Executive Director Paulo Frischknecht said in a press release.<\/p>\n
The short course European championships will take place December 2-6 in Herzliya. The last short course European championships were held last December in Herning, Denmark.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
